We gotta show these dudes that it's all love at the top... aint that what Cole said in Note To Self? These dudes aren't that interested in trying to ruin someone's buzz. That don't make you money. They just focused on putting the best music they can whenever it's ready. that's how i see it

I get what you're saying but you're kind of missing the point. First off FHD definitely put him in the Kendrick, Drake convo. Thats not a question. I get what you're saying about Cole, yes its kind of his fault he doesn't make the right promo moves sometimes. Yes he should do SNL and yes he should be doing Apparently on Fallon, but the album hasn't even been out two months. We are acting like its the end of the world. The last time he was on TV he made one of the biggest social statement in recent memory. His moves in Ferguson have made him a cultural social figure for this time period. People that have never heard about him gained more respect for him because of the music and his social impact so to act like he's not done anything to get to the superstar level is being too extreme, and even Kendrick ain't there, Drake is the only one that's a SUPERSTAR period.

And also he didn't do a complete 360, but if you're thinking he hasn't changed a lot then I don't know what to tell you. Cole is still hungry, Cole still wants to be the best out. But he's not interested in the who's the hottest out argument anymore. He realizes he will never be more poppin than Drake and others because Drake is Drake. No one can make hits like him. But he will be the best Cole and still drop the best quality music which is what matters to him. The same way Nas realized he couldn't compete hit-wise with Jay. But he obviously can from a quality standpoint. He will always care about what others think because we all do but thats far from the priority. If you place you're success and happiness only on what other's think then you'll never be truly satisfied and thats what he's realized.

And y'all keep acting like Cole's buzz has died down or somethings like he hasn't been selling 20k-30k for the past three weeks (not even including streaming).
Even his third week was bigger than NWTS and y'all still talking about promo like he's not selling albums.
He's number 6 on itunes overall and all I see around him is POP albums that are probably going platinum.

Yes he needs to do more promo but Cole ain't out here flopping. He's selling better than he ever has long-term.

s--- thats huge, hadn't even realized that ... also shows cole chose the perfect release date with how it correlated so well with the holiday season ... doesn't discredit how much he sold 2nd/3rd weeks AT ALL (because look at nicki, its not like the holiday season release helped her out lol) but no denying the christmas surge added a couple K to his numbers ...

but word, its crazy how impressive what he been selling is with the fact that he has pretty much done no promo even after the release ON TOP OF the fact that he did a no promo pre-release ... but then again its also a lil frustrating cause who knows where he would be had he been doing more promo after release ... maybe not much difference but we will never know that

and then again like u say its not too late but it really is looking like he just back to his old ways again after racking up his handful of W's

Ya'll need to be patient. Look how well him & the label planned the release of this album. Everything was so coherent & very well co-ordinated. Ya'll think that was the end of the plan? Wait for the rest. This whole album has been a strategic move. Cole's planned this for ages & the music is just half of it.

I fully agree. These dudes have no reason to beef & k--- others buzz, their all making $$$$$$ in their own lanes. The way to beat the game without getting killed.

I do however think that due to the climate we are in, comparison will dominate topics of discussion in the culture. It'll always be a thing to compare rappers. Just like 'Pac & Biggie. But that s--- got them killed. A plus is that it keeps them on top of their game, always wanting to improve.

I always felt like he wrote that verse like that on purpose. Specially because of the couldn't resist line cause he says that right after the lines about his watch n s---. Kinda like saying regardless of the deep message of the album not to put him on a pedestal.
