These guys at work were arguing and asked me if I thought Lil Wayne was a legend, I said no. He's definitely been influential (mainly in the south) but a legend? He's been mediocre for over a decade. I only have one of his albums, The Carter 3, which wasn't that good and didn't age well. I'm more concerned with his health these days because he honestly looks terrible

He is definitely a legend, he was my favorite rapper at a time, years ago, couldn’t nobody tell me Wayne wasn’t the greatest rapper alive.. tha Carter 2 til this day is my favorite Wayne album. Have you heard that album? If not you should give it a listen. I’m trying to understand how he went from putting out an album like the Carter 2 to putting out the s--- he is putting out now.. n----- beats are wack, plus he not rapping bout s---, the way he is rapping ain’t even listenable.. it’s like he not inspired.

The thing with Wayne is, he never progressed, and many of us Wayne fans out grew his s---.. that’s what I think it is, cause even on them old mixtapes, he wasn’t saying nothing, but his wordplay and punchlines was entertaining, and n----s wanted to hear it, now it’s just corny , me being a grown a--- man now.. it’s like he never matured, n----s like jay z and Nas and t.i matured and you seen it in their content and the way they moved over the years, but Wayne just stayed the same lol.. idk, s--- just weird. I gotta watch his interview with drink champs later tonight after this game, cause I gotta see where that man head is at in 2020 lol

I seen this tweet lol, Idk what that n----- was listening to. But you know he in the industry and still trying to come up in the game, so he can’t just call it wack lol

Wayne is a living legend... the fact that we have never seen a rapper start off as a kid become the best rapper alive then introduces us to the new best rapper alive(Drake) all while still being a top 10 lyricist currently... come on now y’all. It’s about Longevity and impact.

Drake is not the best rapper a live! Lil Wayne held that title because he was actually killing every verse and every feature.

At this point , I’d be good with Wayne just doing guest features here and there, not putting out whole albums

I agree about his impact, and he definitely has longevity, but shouldn't the music be good also? I think back to 2006, 2007 with all those features. Most of them were trash. The metaphors and punchlines people speak of : "no backseats; call that paralyzed" "I am legend and I will smith" Huh?! He and his YM roster started that semicolon rap ("It's going down; basement ") If he's a legend anywhere it's in the south. I won't take that from him. Cash Money as a whole. But in my opinion his music has been subpar for quite some time.

This is totally off topic and random but I was listening to Superman by Eminem last night. It never bothered me how he threw b----, ho, slut around when referring to certain females and their behavior. But now that I have a daughter I wouldn’t want someone talking to her that way when she grows up. That song doesn’t offend me...I kbow it’s a song and it’s for entertainment. Just got me thinking of how some females are treated and called names. I’d like to hear a female perspective on that song and the lyrics. @Whitney Michelle, any input?

Well it's Eminem after all. He had "Kim" in the trunk of his car on his first album cover. Had a song where he choked her to death on his second. That's something I realized as I got older with him. Not only was he using his white privilege, Dr. Dre and Interscope were too. They knew he couldn't come out and be this hood white boy -- the industry had tried that and failed. So he had to fit white stereotypes. Poor, trailer park, drug addicted mom. I think she played into it as well by going on talk shows. He's always talked about killing women, raping women ("Stay Wide Awake" is disgusting) because he and the whole label knew he would get away with it. You gotta look at Dre and think why he never put that kind of energy into a black artist? I wouldn't count 50 Cent cause he was already known. They purposely made a white guy the most successful rapper ever.
