Project slaps, only 1 song I disliked, the Central Cee feat with the drill beat.

Love the fact Cole didn’t back down & sent a warning shot. Shows you who’s really about it out of him & Drake.

    Hopefully it escalates.

Ahh man I love that one! Yea it's awesome off first few listens. I think I can say that this is the best rapping he's ever done on an album. Time will tell about how much I personally feel the songs compared to some of his older work. I'm very satisfied.

Just not my style, I’m British too is what it is lol

I loved Cole’s flows & cadences on this, heavy level of multis too, much more technical than he’s been on his former work like you say & the production matched the raps.

I don’t think the replay value will be huge given the content but it’s the best mainstream rapping I’ve heard for a bit now & I’m excited to see what happens from here in regards to the shots sent.

Still stand by Control being Kendrick’s most overrated verse as well.

The verse itself is fine and I like it, it's just hailed like the second coming of Christ cause it wasn't done enough in that era I guess. Nothing really came of it though so there's not much to hang on to, at least there's already something from the Like That verse cause Cole is in his cocky phase so he had to respond.

Yeah make sense in context, people get caught up in the hype which is half of the fun, what I don’t understand is people still to this day hype it up like it’s his best when it doesn’t come close.

The lack of real, substantive diss tracks in battles between mainstream rappers over the last decade is truly concerning, besides like Back to Back and Story of Adidon (which i still think are both massively overrated) these songs and verses are like 95% pointless filler with like 2 or 3 vague lines that are disses, the public eats them up due to marketing. Both Like That and the Control verse are just him saying his music is better than other rappers but with a lot of energy

I always thought it was weird that Cole fans got dragged so much when it's Kendrick, who I love let me be clear, that had the internet's most obnoxious, sanctimonious, moralizing, not fun, indoor cat energy lame a--- dudes all on his sack. I feel like people still give those people credence out of habit at this point. Like my dog Mac Miller said, "it ain't 2009 no more". Like we don't have to pretend that places like Pitchfork, dudes that are 15 years deep on J Cole put me to sleep jokes, accounts that comb through rap songs to find something mildly out of line with their own (unpopular) ideology have any relevance in 2024 whatsoever.

I hope the disses to Kendrick don’t overshadow the rest of the mixtape too much even though it probably will. There’s some fire songs on here

This is f---ing hilarious and so characteristic of Kendrick fans. Excluding GKMC, Kendrick has one of the worst ears for picking beats in the entire industry. That’s why everyone gets so amped for these Kendrick features – we actually get to listen to him over non-s-----y production.

Still think Cole is going to get smoked, but can’t take away that he is 100% correct about Kendrick’s catalog.

If Story of Adidon is overrated, then the Pusha T and Drake Beef is basura. I agree that it's not Push's best showing of lyricism. I believe him when he said it was going to be "A Surgical Summer" though. There was surely more in the chamber. And Duppy was more of a d--- Kanye West diss than a Push one, bruddah.

My take on it is that it was a moment...which in hip hop these days are few and far between.

It's not the verse itself. It's the fact that Kendrick raised the stakes. The fact that people chose not to really respond, it my mind cements Kendrick's status as a GOAT even further. It's like how nobody wanted to challenge Em in his prime. And when he did like on Square Dance it was a moment that had an impact.

Acting dumb now are we? Or are you drunk posting again?

Why are you stalking my posts in the Eminem section on the low anyway? Beyond weird, seems like you’re a stan.

I think this is one of Cole’s best shots at Kendrick by the way. It brings up a point I never saw anyone else make. Kendrick was fine back then, but now that Cole is getting more recognition than ever before suddenly Kendrick has a problem. I don’t think that’s actually the case, but the timing is interesting and gave Cole a good narrative here.

I haven’t seen a lot of people mention Pricey. I feel like that was a great way to start the project and honestly one of the best songs on it. It was dope that he got Gucci Mane on there too. Also Ready ‘24 is fire with the Cam’ron feature especially since he had Cam talk on Off Season

    Yes JCN fam. We backkk

Good to see a lotta old faces/avis, hope y'all doing good. First take on the project is that it's fire, some of the best rapping Cole's ever done and will take a few listens to digest all the bars. Favourites so far is stickz and stonez and he blacked out on the ab-soul track.

I realise this ain't meant to be a "deep" project but after all the features and his stuff over the past couple years hes kinda forgotten his essence a lil bit and rapping mostly about being on top of the game and letting off clips etc etc

Realise there's an evolution but his storytelling still his best attribute and putting himself in other ppls shoes. I feel like he doesn't do that too much anymore. Reminds me of the bar when he said he won't do as much conscious raps because ppl profit off of racial stress. Food for thought anyway
