It's all about them. Being the media. This is what they do. Only way to get attention, which is the only way to get money. That s--- didn't feel right for Cole's conscience because Cole has an elite bs detector.

He can do this but as long as he stays neutral in this i think he'll be fine. Doesnt seem like kendrick or drake are going to go at each other.

    Mm
I wonder if Cole would have even dropped the whole project if Kendrick didn't diss him. The timing seems a bit reactionary.

Bro I just realized j cole on the metro album ....that's some crazy s---. Coles done for real now though

Got dissed, replied with a weak diss, apologized for it, deleted it off streaming, then hoped on a song with the OPs

That's a timeline he can't recover from. His core fan base gonna defend it but 100% he lost a lot of respect in the wider rap community.

No lies there. Him caring about that s--- would be the only thing that would be disappointing as a long time Cole fan. So that's kind of the dichotomy of the situation. He made the decision in 2014 that he wasn't going to care and was just going to do s--- that he felt and that his fans liked. And he's stuck to it and it's led to him being in this position. So to me, he's being himself through and through. Him and Kendrick are two of the only few extremely famous artists that are putting out a counter message into the world. Which I would pretty much say is broadly anti postmodern, anti establishment.

He was never supposed to recover from the noname song in 2020. But it turns out that four years later the message of, "all this overly educated, sanctimonious lecturing is going to turn off the very people you claim to be wanting to help" is actually just what happened. And isn't controversial at all. So the online world is so myopically focused but thinks at the same time that this moment is forever .. and it's just. That's just how social media works man. That's the whole point. To get everyone riled up so they stay on the ap. f--- that s---. The world keeps spinning. s--- changes.

Like it or not that's how Drake will see it.

Anyone featured on We Still Don't Trust you is an enemy in drakes eyes. Cole had to clear that verse, knowing it wouldn't sit right with Drake. He already has half the Industry going at him

Cole fans can sit on their high horses all they won't but he got him self into this mess 100%. He currently holds the biggest L in this whole beef.

„The contrast between J Cole's feature on Red Leather' and his empty bars on 7 Minute Drill' are night and day. When he's genuinely making music from the heart, he's one of the best. When he's trying to fit into a box to meet expectations it falls short“
Just saw this on tiktok yall agree?

It’s the media feeding on itself. Attention has become the new commodity & it works on a feedback loop. Even though a lot of it is manufactured, it is nice to have everyone involved in the same conversations for once.
