He's done that on plenty of other songs though. I feel like in order to have this conversation, you can't just isolate one particular song and analyze Cole's character based on that song alone. Songs like Too Deep For the Intro, Lights Please, Trouble, Never Told, Daddy's Little Girl, Crooked Smile, all the way down to No Role Modelz all offer varying views. There's many, many, many layers to this conversation and in my opinion Cole has done a great job of shining a spotlight on each one. No Role Modelz is just one chapter.

yeah if u go through Cole's discography, he's probably done the most in his career (compared to most rappers) to empower women. The way he's gone about it is probably not the best when u look at songs like Lights Please and No Role Modelz. Theres a bit of hypocrisy in there but I feel he's just a product of the misogynestic culture within hip-hop and he's just doing his best to tow both lines. Losing My Balance was probably one of the main songs that put me onto Cole cos it was so honest and different to what anyone else was saying, Kendrick's No Make-up also very similar. His intentions are pure but u can tell with no role modelz that he was trying to make it impactful in the club/radio so didn't do a crooked smile type record.

Havign said that, after hearing the Morehouse talk I did expect a bit more from no role modelz as he tried to make it out as this big social commentary piece and attack on kim kardashian culture.

Im so glad you just bought up faux feminism because you are definitely right about that. A lot of famous women are doing it because they realize that their fanbase is getting more intelligent and will very much not continue to buy their music if they don't feel it is empowering enough. Its becoming a trend (male celebs are doing it more and more too)
