    People are saying this album is better than MBDTF and I've seen some compare it to Illmatic. This albums should never be mentioned in the same sentence as those two. Anyone that thinks this album is in the class of those 2 are most definitely Stans.

    Kendrick lost that last Grammy so he went out of his way to make an artistic album that critics would eat up. He succeeded with that, but the quality suffered. MBDTF was the perfect balance of artistry and Kanye rapping, this album overdid it and it doesn't work at all. It's a good album and his rapping is on point, but it's nothing special and is forgettable.

    The 2 interludes are some of the most pointless tracks I have heard, that "boo-boo" s--- on Hood Politics, there were other moments on the album that I can't recall right now that made me say WTF. These are things that if any other rapper did they would get crucified for.

    Kendrick made an album for the critics, Cole made an album for the fans. I'll take the people's champ over Kendrick sucking up to critics and the Grammy's.

    Not to single you out, but I hate this mentality. WPG was doing the same s---. You don't have to entertain these people. The official review from our site, by BigCountry, isn't anywhere as hyperbolic is it? There are legitimate points being made, but I feel like some of the critics are getting to fed up by the hyperbole to take anything serious. Which is just as detrimental to good discussion.

    But critics ate up GKMC. And was "The Heist" some artistic album the critics ate up? lol. Re-visiting Section.80 kinda showed me that TPAB is a pretty natural progression sound and content wise to be quite honest.

    TPAB and MBDTF are two completely types of albums.

    TPAB is a concept album rooted by two different poems, where each song is proceeded by the line in the poem it coincides with, and follows the narrative of a young man graduating out of compton, only to return and feel a disconnect. Berate himself for not having a meaningful message to bring back, and finally learning to accept himself and spread the message of self love/empowerment.

    Not saying any of this on paper makes the album any better, but saying its "nothing special" and "forgettable" after 5 days, with ALL this going on in the album, just 100% shows how dismissive you're being.

    Except that the first one is about being pimped out by the music industry, and the second is about the "lucy," "lucifer," the devil, whatever, proposing him a deal that we actually know he ended up taking in the end (signing to a major label).

    weak critique again lol, it's always all about context and execution.

    so yeah, not saying you can't like what you like, but i'd simmer down and give the album another chance down the road.

    havent watched a cole interview in so long

    just finished the Combat Jack and the Tavis Smiley interview and it reminded me why I love Cole interviews. Wish he did alittle bit more for FHD

    For some reason this reminds me of the trolling that would happen every once in awhile on JCN. Cruz was goat at sparking those long heated discussions, would revive that place in the blink of an eye.
