    why is cole being compared in that TPAB thread b lmao

    TPAB is a perfectly executed concept album, no matter what you put against it, people will automatically vote for TPAB. the fact that its a "concept" album gives it so much more value in these dudes eyes when in reality it shouldn't.

    thats why I've been quiet with these drake comparisons, no matter how good the next album is they're gonna vote for TPAB. n----s were calling it better than MBDTF on day 3 b smh.

    that said this album is better than FHD for me, i think FHD still an 8ish and I like this one a bit more.

    I completely feel you. And at points on Kendrick's album I'm thinking Cole is not touching this, but for the whole project :dno:

    Like honestly, I listen to GKMC and I can firmly say that project is better than any Cole project.

    I don't get that feeling with TPAB. A few songs here and there are dope, but the concept is not as well-executed as GKMC imo.

    With GKMC, I leave the album with a clear thesis, a clear idea, of exactly what I'm supposed to take away. Underneath all that there is deeper context if you dig.

    With TPAB its even more deep, but overly dense at points. I get a little bit of Born Sinner syndrome, where I see where he was going, but the execution wasn't compelling enough as it could have been and I didn't leave this album having a clear idea of what this album is supposed to mean. That's just me though.

    Word I revisited FHD after this GOMD video dropped, and I do like the album a lot still.

    It's all good to say you prefer one album to the other, but I don't know why n----s feel the need to trash one album to make a point about another.

    My issues with FHD:
    1) Sometimes the quality of writing dips.
    2) Hello
    3) Note To Self
    4) As good as Love Yourz is, its corny (just a little bit) to me
    5) Wet Dreamz is great but I wish he used the melody and beat on different subject matter. I can only listen to the virgin anthem so many times, although it does fit act 1 of the album (high school).

    Another thing, I bet these dudes don't even know the album is broken down in to acts yet :laff:

    My issues with TPAB:
    1) Its mood is too consistent. Not as many highs like Back Street Freestyle followed by lows like Sing About Me (I'm talking mood, not quality). I miss the high energy moments.
    2) I wanted something like Money Trees or ADHD. Straight melody with some ambience in the music and just a straight up chill song.

    I feel Wesley's Theory (which creeped into my favorite Kendrick songs ever) comes sort of close to that vibe but it's a lot more different.

    I might be in the minority here but TPAB really grew on me enough for me to say it's his best work. The narrative really resonated with me and the sound of the whole album is just really dope, it felt like a really complete record from top to bottom and in usual fashion Kendrick wrote a lot of great verses on here. However I'll always prefer listening to GKMC, the high points on that album are just too good.
