I told yall Kendrick's gonna need this joint album now more than Cole does. It's obvious that TPAB didn't meet the expactations. That Kendrick tweet few days ago only confirmed that.

I agree. I think before we thought Cole needed Kendrick a bit to get him back to FNL/TWU days, but I think Cole is in a very good space right now. Kendrick's incredible apetite for concepts and spreading knowledge mixed with Coles ease to speak to people and relate may just make this one of the best projects of the last decade. It can hit 500k-650k I feel, their fanbases don't overlap as much anymore.

It bothers me seeing people undermine or doubt Cole's capabilities on the mic, they forget he's gotten busy whenever he's presented with a challenge. Can't wait for Cole to once again turn doubters into believers.

I agree that Cole ain't the greatest producer, or even a top 10 now. But those 4 beats he gave to Kendrick - HiiiPower, Shock The World, Temptation and this one at 1:07



are some of his best work. I lowkey want most of the production by Cole

nah fam. I wouldnt mind 3-4 tracks from cole but you listen to the production value on TPAB/GKMC and compare it to coles albums its night and day. Also, if theres ever been a chance for cole to utilize all the resources around him this collab album is it. Super producers would be fiending to get a beat on this album. If they want to do this album right, cole should be co-producing with sounwave and other producers and the album should be mixed by ali. Album has the chance to be monumental, coles an average producer and letting him handle all the beats would be a wasted opportunity

That bolded part is what would make Cole beats 2-3 levels more dope. Proper mixing and mastering is as important as making great melodies and drums. Kendrick's beats and productions sound more layered, complex and polished just because Ali knows how to make every part of the beat to stand out and have his own space. I can almost guarantee you Cole made some very complex s--- in his career, but didn't know how to mix it all in so he had to left some of the sound layering and s--- like that out. Wouldn't mind other superproducers producing the whole thing either, but I just wanted to point that out. Cole is a good producer and average engineer, as well as Mez. These superpoducers usually have some engineering geniuses behind them cause not all of them mix and master their s---. And in this case, it's Ali and Dre.

Last two nights I've bumped The Sideline Story after a year or so. The album is mad nice, we got caught up in the fact that there were songs we heard before (Lost Ones, Lights Please, In The Morning etc) but they sound good 4+ years after. If we didn't get The Sideline Story I dont think Cole would sell numbers like now. Album had some radio songs, couple wannabe bangers, deep songs. Had something for everyone. Cole also learned a thing or two after the debut. Album brought some nostalgia in me. Didn't think it could happen, but d---, a whale could've swam in them tears fam.


Edit: listening to that intro before the sideline story (song) just minutes before reading Cole co-owning TIDAL. He really out of here now. I'm glad i was witnessing the ups and downs of him. He just like us. Made mistakes, but learned and got better. And still has ways to go.

Just watched the video where wale brought out Cole. That beautiful bliss verse is really GOAT!! Like really. Man I got chills even watching Cole omit bars.
