cept the compton swap meet has actual meaning behind it, not just a prop nahmean?

edit: like did you want the video to be glossy and extravagant? i dont get it..because it was still grand in some aspects (the crowds of people, the different cars, motorcyles etc) but it was about Kendrick returning to his hometown after shunning the music industry that tried to p---- him, so its naturally supposed to more intimate and gritty.

i get that lol, i didn't mean to imply that it didnt. i just think the context of returning to your home town and dancing in front of your city at the swap meet building you used to frequent as a kid, is cooler.

Its not a bad video by any means. I get its supposed to be raw. Its just generic imo. There was nothing in that visual I haven't seen a thousand times and it wasn't done better imo. For a rapper like Kendrick who has great videos I was expecting more even for a traditional rap videos.

The reason I bring up SFTB and Worst Behavior is because those are traditional rap videos with a modern twist, better visuals, and pull off the celebratory vibe better imo.

But isnt just the way its filmed (the aspect ratio and s---) unique? I feel like that itself stops it from being generic lol. The transitions are also pretty awesome (the one around "when you hear the next pop" >)

don't think it's generic man, think that's a bit dismissive

The King Kunta video is fantastic. I don't know how anyone could think otherwise. It embodies the song so well.
