Not to bring down the positive vibes of this thread... but I'm interested to hear what anyone, who's formed a thoughtful opinion of what's going on in Baltimore, thinks of what's going on in relation to police brutality in the US as well as the role and influence that the media has on public perception of these situations?

I'm personally upset and fed up with how the entire focus is constantly shifted away from the real issues by the media and ignorant, uninformed people.

What do you all think?

Babcock should be number 1 on their to do list. He's the kind of guy that can whip that team into shape and teach them what the defensive zone is. I posted this in the NHL thread around the time of the lottery, but I think the 2 things they are majorly lacking is defense and a forward or 2 that crash the net and make life h--- for the opposition. They need to find a way to get Lucic and Seidenberg out of Boston. Lucic would look great on a line with McDavid and Eberle and would make this team a lot less soft. Seidenberg would instantly become their #1 defensmen.

The problem I have with the media is the focus on negativity, solely because of the fact that negativity generates more attention/ratings. You hardly hear of the many peaceful protests that have been happening not only in Baltimore but in other cities as well. Even now in Baltimore I have seen countless reporters approach young men with the obvious purpose of depicting them a certain way and when they realize that the young dude actually has something insightful or meaningful to say they revert back to something negative like looting a liquor store. Of course the looting and violence isn't an answer, not to justify their acts, but that is all just an angry reaction from young people. I know there has to be people out there with malicious or selfish intent but to generalize and make assumptions that these protesters are simply thugs taking advantage looting and vandalizing for their own sake is stupid.

IMO Lucici is the type of forward the Oilers need. They are going to have a lot of talent in their top 6 but they are really soft. You can't win in the NHL with just talent alone. You need that guy that can go out there and throw his body around, win battles in the corner, crashes the net, and can score. Lucic is a top 5 power forward in the league and would really help this team.
