Kanye is the most influential hip hop artist of all time, but Curtis is right behind him :wow5:

There ain't none of these new cats without 50, Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Q, etc. Some would still be who they are if Nas never existed a.k.a Drake.

You misunderstood me. 50 birthed a whole new style with melodic rhyming, half-singing verses and singing choruses. Imagine hip hop today without that.

    Em birthed Hopsin.

50 would have happened with anybody imo, he was coming up as the biggest thing in New York and Queens before he was even signed. @cruz can confirm he lives in Queens and was there when 50 took over.

Honestly this is spot-on...I also want to mention ATCQ for pioneering what Kanye would eventually accomplish. Puff and Biggie were also big in making hip-hop more commercialized and adding dope radio singles to albums

Reason why I left Pac every time from every hip hop aspect is because you can't box him in. People consider him a historical person, intellectual and a poet, not just a rapper. You talk with someone who doesn't know s--- bout hip hop, they'll know who he is and what he represented. But IMO he didn't influence no one til the point you can point in some bigger artist and say "I see Pac in him". Maybe little in J. Cole now, but honestly in these 18 years there was none.

Remember how HiiiPower was made. Let's not underestimate Pac's influence on this generation. You are right, not musically, but as a person lead to Kendrick and Cole making this music we love. Arguably the two best mainstream rappers, reach for Drake if you wanna say Drake was influenced by Thug Life 2pac with swag.

Even with Kanye's rants and being able to speak out at stuff like the Taylor Swift incident, CLEAR 2pac influence.

Of course, I agree, you look through their discography and you can clearly see the social awareness and all that. But that's just one side of what they are. Musically, for instance, 50/Andre 3000 influenced all their material. It's hard to find a song where they actually don't have a singing hook, few bars on the bridge where they are half singing or flow in general. That was my main point.
