Swizz really went into this song with the intention of making the most obnoxious beat possible

This album went by so fast...

Intro: Memphis Bleek is dope, I don't care what anybody else says; primo delivered.
Hard Knock Life: Classic song, I really love the fact that it sampled Annie. Loved it since I was a kid.
If I Should Die: Classic, Swizz Beats may be hated but he delivers here and Jay-Z gives introspective lyrics and s---.
Ride or Die: S. Carter, Ghostwriter, and for the right price; I could even make yo s--- tigher.
n----- What: Classic, Timbo's beat and Jay-Z's speed rapping is incredible. RIP Jay x Jaz.
Money, Cash, Hoes: f--- what anybody says, I love it to death.
A Week Ago: This song is better than "Real Niggaz", really. The beat and lyrics are on point plus Too Short doesn't spit a verse but does adlibs and it's perfect.
Coming of Age (Da Sequel): Hard a--- s---, the most street song on the album, I can't believe it's so cinematic yet so raw at the same time.
Can I Get A: Pop s--- but it's good s---, really love the beat and Jay-Z's rhyming. Can I Get a What What?
Paper Chase: Not really impressive but it's still good for it's lyrics.

The "Why would I give a f---? I'm just a crook on a song" line was such a great move for 1998.

Because look at the song title. This was a flow Jaz partially developed/taught Jay.

It's Like That: Somber way to end this but justified.
It's Alright: Sounds like Videogame s--- but... I love it, I really love it; Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek may never happen but it's glorious.
Money Ain't a Thang: Dupri's jam but Jay rides it well... Amazingly well, it's so slick and fancy that I could slide on it.

Beat is a bit dated but I the interplay here is probably better than on the Reasonable Doubt version.
Yeah Jay wrote the whole thing it looks like.

A lot of these beats would be 50% better if they had 50% less instrumentation. A skeletal version of "Paper Chase" would be stupid good.

Darn I missed most of this, but I came here to say Bleek's verses on this album are better than anything J. Cole ever made.

Back when the LOX used to be on every high-profile posse cut from NY. Always loved Sauce on this s---.
