    Would you care to elaborate friend? I found the beats were "spontaneous", and jay brought the classic hov style that people expect from him. Maybe you need to filter your feelings through the lens of Jay being black in America?

    Imo this slaps harder and harder every spin :wow:

    i like this album because it feels like hov breaks himself down and humanizes himself while still assuming the role of the culture's all wise father figure.

    on songs like family feuds and the story of OJ he's like a zeus like figure in the clouds sharing his unfiltered thoughts on the culture with intention to steer it. so like listening to those tracks you respect him as such.

    but then on tracks like k--- jay z, 4:44, or even legacy, he breaks himself down and humanizes himself. either speaking personal, or admitting faults.

    album is excellent to me.

    Agree entirely. His whole career he's made himself out to be this enigmatic/magisterial figure who hustled street corners to get to the top. He gloated so much about being this mob boss type figure that it almost didn't seem real. He totally humanizes himself on this project. It's like we're finally able to see passed the mafioso persona.

    meh, it's just an OK album. i wasn't expecting too much because jay-z is almost 50 and rappers don't get better with age. but for this stage of his career, its a solid album and the subject matter of this album makes sense considering where he's at in his life at this point. i just wish there were more songs that really stood out.....instead of the majority of the songs just being meh

    I've been a Jay Z fan for 20+ years, and this was crazy to hear. I was hanging on every lyric the entire album. He didn't disappoint me at all.

    yo ive read like 3 different things about this "20 mill" now.
    like the first was, Kanye asked to borrow 20 mill from jay for his fashion line and then the rant was the next thing jay heard.

    the second; Jay offered Kanye 20 mill to go to tidal instead of apple music

    now your post. wat is going on?

    i dunno rly starting to sound to me like the both of them dropped 10 mill each to start a marketing/rolloit/production plan, then manufactured this beef andnwatch the throne 2 will be on tidal in 6 months
