Ok what are we talking when deciding between the two? If we talking rapping eminem would rap circles around jay. Eminem can do anything jay can do when it comes to rapping, but jay can’t do everything eminem can do

So, Hopsin can rap too, but his subject matter is simple, just like Em's

That’s why I just mentioned rapping. Now if we talking content even tho eminem is my favorite rapper I can admit eminem be rapping about dumb s---, so of course has better content

Jay-Z. It's insulting to Jay and his legacy to mention Eminem in the same breath as him.

I think Ye might be the greatest, he nowadays has more than a 3 of them combined

I'm a 2000's kid though so I might be biased saying Ye is the best

Kanye is great definitely but I penalize him because his rapping isn't in the same league as those mentioned

    Just my preference

    JAY-Z

    JAY-Z's flow > Eminem's flow
    JAY-Z's discography > Eminem's discography
    JAY-Z's consistency > Eminem's consistency
    JAY-Z's subject matter > Eminem's subject matter
    JAY-Z's impact/influence > Eminem's impact/influence
    JAY-Z's delivery > Eminem's delivery
    Eminem's storytelling > JAY-Z's storytelling though

Now time to break it down lyrically

    JAY-Z's double-entendres > Eminem's double-entendres
Eminem's rhyme schemes > JAY-Z's rhyme schemes (very close, JAY-Z's rhyme schemes on RD were insane)
    JAY-Z's wordplay = Eminem's wordplay
Eminem's technical ability > JAY-Z's technical ability (very close)

Overall, JAY-Z's the better rapper. You could make a case for Eminem lyrically on stuff like MMLP, but then I could counter it with some stuff on RD. You also have to remember that JAY-Z doesn't write anything down AND dumbed down his work for the mainstream. Hov was the first rapper to use quadruple-entendres while Eminem was the second. The difference is that Eminem fell off while JAY-Z stayed consistent. Lyrically, I would say it's about even, if not, slightly leaning towards Eminem. For storytelling, you could give it to Em. However, for every other aspect of rapping, Hov wins

"It goes Reggie, JAY-Z, Tupac and Biggie, Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas and then me"
    - Eminem on "Till I Collapse" in 2002, 1 year after "Renegade"

If he stepped up his game lyrically, I guess you could make the argument. For now, he stays a great artist and a decent rapper

Eminem had a short peak but during that time he was the best ever.

He was able to make 3 classic albums, completly different from each other in such short period of time.

But Pac also didn't have the best lyrical ability, and just like Ye, it was his voice that stood out from the rest

Hov had an even longer peak where he was able to make 3 certified classics and multiple arguable classics

I eliminate Kanye for being the greatest because he has writers

Pac didn't have ghostwriters. Also, Pac was pretty underrated lyrically. Hail Mary is more lyrical than any Kanye song

    I never liked his music.

Im a big fan of Pac, Biggie, Redman, DMX, Snoop and many others but i never really cared about Jay Z. Maybe one day i will change my mind.
