Nobody expected @Poohdini @Immy @Flacko and these other cats to know anything about it though... they just jumped on the bandwagon and liked what looked like a funny comment, even though the guy who posted this doesn't know s--- about jazz music and its community.

Just another day on s80... its ok though, it's a very young community.

I'm a pretty huge novice. I like Zorn, Sharrock, Mann, etc.

If I wanna hear jazz I'll turn on Anchorman and watch Ron Burgundy play the jazz flute.

Everyone stopped taking you guys seriously when the majority of the SXN started saying TPAB was >>> GKMC.

This, I come from ktt and even there people start to consider gkmc as his weakest project.

I'd obviously not compare kamasi to someone like sharrock but still, the epic features one of the most superb instrumentation we have heard in years.

Like I said, I haven't heard it. I've just seen jazz heads go on at length about thinking it's overrated and saying casuals were overenthusiastic. I've been le exposed. Oh no.

thats weird..like captain said, I know a lot of jazz fans and none of them said this s--- about kamasi. The only thing I see is jazz heads talking about how hes the most talented guy in jazz music this decade

I know its very very long, 3 hours is quite a long time for an album to have your complete attention but its worth it

Yeah, it's pretty weird after I looked at AllAboutJazz's praise. I'm guessing it's just pushback at his popularity and the way non-jazz fans have embraced him.

Yeah, I have seen some of his live performances and thought they looked like a lot of fun. I just have a habit of putting off longer albums and movies for a while. I still haven't watched Boyhood and Richard Linklater is one of my favorite directors.

we don't believe u u need more people

i will say i have friends who ACTUALLY know what they're talking about, who've said they think it's over the top. but, you know, kamasi is a. obviously talented, and b. the most mainstream jazz star since... terence blanchard? wynton marsallis? it's a positive thing for someone so exciting to be receiving all this attention. i still don't get why you had to flex like you know more than you do tho -- you just namedrop to sound smart here huh? mr wiki werner herzog i know ur flow :'(

wow in a thread with a pretentious title and a bunch of self-righteous kendrick fans, charlie STILL finds a way to be the most condescending, insufferable, and misinformed person.
