Apr 8, 2023 Jim Jones has recalled Dr. Dre “punking” in the studio, and said the legendary producer is still sitting on unreleased Dipset music. Capo recalled the studio session in an interview with The Amazing AllHipHop podcast, where the Harlem native described his time in the lab with Dre as a “great night” for Hip Hop. “That was a great night in Hip Hop, a great night for the Diplomats,” Jim said. “I had a little studio on 28th street, and Dr. Dre was trying to recreate his new sound for his new album at the time, and we had that sound. Came to my studio, me and Cam did like four records in there. Juelz came and did a record at the end.” He added: “We did about four or five records with Dr. Dre. I don’t know what he ever did with the records, and yeah he did them directly to his hard drive so we had a copy of it to listen to and s--- like that.” Jim Jones went on to say that while the records may never see the light of day, the Aftermath founder owes him a phone call first if he ever decides to release their music. “Truthfully, he better not put it out ’cause I’m charging $2 million for my verse,” he joked, adding that working with Dre “was dope,” regardless. The “We Fly High” hitmaker then recalled Dr. Dre — a notorious perfectionist — making him rerecord his verse over a dozen times, an experience he said made him feel like the producer was “punking” him. “It was the first time I ever had somebody really make me do my verse over like 20 times,” he said. “The first time I got a piece of that, it had made me think about 2Pac and Snoop and all the others that had to get the beats from Dre. Dre was punking n-ggas like, ‘Man, go back in there and spit that s--- over, bro. You bugging the f--- out.’ Every time he told me, ‘Nah nah, do that over, man.’ “Like, ‘Bro you’re cursing at me. You don’t even know you’re cursing at me. You’re punking the s--- outta me right now ’cause n-ggas is looking at me like, ‘You’re telling Capo to do his s--- over? This is crazy.’ N-gga, you f---ing it up for me.”
Apr 8, 2023 agreed… the amount of music we could have heard is unreal…even if Dre didn’t think it was good…so much material that would be amazing from our perspective the amount of artists he’s worked on the last 15years on detox alone got to be a few hundred songs
