However, Joe was pretty popular pre-Pump It Up and afterwards. He was on the Clue tapes, did s--- with Fabolous, and was on the mixtape scene rivaling 50 Cent before both of them dropped in 2003. So, even though I somewhat agree with the whole "internet" thing, I don't think it's entirely accurate. He had a pretty big buzz before Pump It Up, and after Pump It Up.
Obviously, Joe had some s--- luck with how his label promoted his album (pump it up dropped like 7 months before the actual album dropped). He also did a ton of mixtapes between 04-08, and a lot of them were top notch and well respected.
Joe obtained this whole "internet/underground" thing around the time of the Ransom beef, which was in 07-08, ironically, around the same time that Slaughterhouse formed.
I still blame Slaughterhouse for all of Joe's f---ing corniness, because I feel like he overcompensated to fit into their group.
Joe wasn't that before, he fit in perfect with rappers like Fabolous, Jae Millz, Stack Bundles, etc. I swear that's where all of this "real hip hop" s--- originated from, was Slaughterhouse.
As a long time Budden fan, he's been unbearable since forming the group. I miss the DJ Clue/Triangle Offense Joe Budden. He's one of the best MC's of all time.
From 03-08, Joe was so versatile with his content/ability. He could make basically any type of song and make it work, he just needed the platform. However, when he finally got the platform, he conformed to Slaughterhouse's style, and his music has suffered, as well as his likability.
This used to be the same dude who used to invite fans to bowling in New Jersey and was VERY interactive with his fanbase on MySpace. Dude is a fool now.Last edited: Jun 29, 2017Soldier, Jay Zeus, Cerrone and 1 other person like this. -

It's exactly how I say it is... Joe Budden is Stanley Kowalski.
He just missed everything.... If "pump it up" came out in 2007 instead of 2003 he would have had $50million in ringtone money.
Joebudden.tv didn't blow up like he thought it would of... Or probably would have if he was a more likeable character.
Instead of pretending to be single all the time like music management wants their artist to do to attract female fans to get the club jumping and move units... Joe would make stars out of his girlfriends... Then he would beat them up and break up with them and become a high profile bad guy.
His most critically acclaim years were the late 00's... Post CD... When iTunes was getting their a--- beat by torrents and other pirateware... Pre streaming... The worst time to make money in the music industry... Especially since 100% of his audience were internet savvy nerds who never paid a penny for his music and weren't likely to go to his shows.
He was the king of the battle rappers... 10 years after people cared about battle rapping.
He got in on Shady/Aftermath's supergroup, well after Shady/Aftermath peaked.
Now he is on (or was on) an embarrassing Real Housewives knock off show at a time when reality TV stars are a dime a dozen and no one gives a s--- about them.
He has bad timing and he missed his shot at immortality many times.
He is bitter... He doesn't like the sound of new rap... He doesn't think it's cool rappers are respected for drinking cough syrup and slurring their bars when he used to smoke Angel Dust and annunciate.dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl, Goku187, Enigma and 1 other person like this. -

& at the end of the day, this incident wouldn’t have gotten to where it did without joe & as far as i’m concerned more ppl are talking about it than the actual bet event itself + it’s gonna bring large amounts of traffic to the show so pretty smart all the way around if u ask meFitzy, Ordinary Joel, Flacko and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -
