    He a passionate dude, he probably does talk like this when topics he really cares about are discussed. He went from Drake hater, to Drake fan, to Drake doubter. Plus Drakes early stuff had a heavy Budden influence, so I def think he really cares about this topic. Plus dude loves hip hop

    So he thought the album was good but thinks Drake sounds uninspired? Kind of contradictory but ok lol.

    That's not what I said though. I wouldn't claim an album was good if the star artist on the album sounded "uninspired."

    Maybe that thought doesn't Cross your mind in music, but I'm certain you've have seen or experienced something good, and thought it could of been better.

    When Aristotle dissed Drake, he literally stated that he was the biggest Budden Biter by far. This is '06 Drake we're speaking on. That hadn't changed until "Take Care" or after. Everything to how Drake used to rhyme one bar with the one following the next stems from those patterns of cadence. This is something Royce kinda bit off Budden, and did it better at one point. Budden is the first n----- who made, "Pulling out all of the skeletons from your closet like Halloween Decorations.", a sensation. Study that. Don't stay sleep. He's not as good as he was. But he's not nearly as off-balance as he was during the "Love Lost" era. "Escape Route" is a fave.

    I enjoyed listening to this.

    Summary:

    Budden thinks Drake and Hov are in competition for an economic power place in music to dictate the future of Hip-Hop & music. Hov sent Meek to distract him.

    Done axed Meek.

    Shows a lot of respect to Drake, Cole, & Kendrick.

    Budden is passionate because he feels like these artists have the power to shape future artists relationship with labels and economic power structures. Basically, there's a battle between the artist's desire to create what they want to sell vs what studio heads think they should create & sell. Or, better yet why just be an artist when you can own the structure?

    @Immy @Mike Tyson

    Did you listen to this podcast?

    Shows a lot of love to Drake but also provides constructive criticism about his art and the game.

    Budden seems to think that the opening track & most of the album is really just Drake talking to himself. He seems to think Drake might be on the edge of a mental / emotional breakdown.

    Personally, think he's not analyzing the records right, applying too much of himself in the picture, and is on some stan level s--- like eminem fans & Encore/Relapse but I admit he made me go back and relisten to the album in a different light.

    There's definitely some of them that I disagreed with but I can see the logic behind all of his points.
