Orpheus Vs. The Sirens is an interesting one for me and I'm happy @Ordinary Joel picked it, the slower paced underground lyricist s--- is a lane I haven't really delved into even though I know about multiple artists that do it.
I want to start off by saying I really REALLY like the concept of Ka relating his upbringing and overall life to Greek Mythology, it's super inspired and it leads to a lot of great lines on the album
I've known about Ka for a while but never dove into his work but after listening to this I realized I was missing out on an elite level writer, the double entendres are so slick and effortless that when mixed with the overall concept had me locked in to the album experience trying to pick up as much as I can. One of the easiest connections to understand relating between his struggles and the myth is obviously on the opening track Sirens (relating it to police sirens is so simple but effective) which is one of my personal favorites on the record.
Now one of my small issues was actually a positive for @Justin Trudeau where the production sounds a bit too much like one long song to me, now don't get me wrong it sounds great and it's very cohesive but the similar production throughout paired with Ka's lackadaisical flow on most tracks can lead to things feeling a bit samey, thankfully the run time is pretty short to avoid that becoming a major problem.
Idk how much I'd come back to this or go super hard into this lane unless something is recommended to me cause it's a dense and heavy listen but that doesn't negate the quality of it in the slightest.
Favorite songs: Sirens, Atlas, Oedipus, The Punishment Of Sysiphus
Least favorite songs: N/A (they're all very well made I just like some more than others.

Eminem - The Death of Slim Shady
(Holy yap Incoming)
I think that everyone would agree that TDOSS is essentially a reflection on the Slim Shady character and how it's impacted Em's personal life. Something that @Omar Little said that I agree with heavily is the fact that Em and a large part of the media boil down the Slim Shady character to just "the a------ who makes fun of celebrities" without factoring in the social commentary that is present throughout basically Em's entire career. As Em mentions in the album, this isn't the first time that he's tried to put the Shady persona to rest. The "suicide" at the end of Encore and the rejection at the end of "When I'm Gone" are probably the most apparent. The fact is that from the persona's very first appearance, the Slim Shady character has been portrayed as a total negative for Em. The Slim Shady EP starts with the Shady essence possessing Em against his will, which is referenced twelve years later on "My Darling". I actually thought that MMLP2 was already a pretty good retrospective on Slim, with Em basically admitting that all the comments said by Shady ultimately come from him, and that he is responsible for what the persona's done.
Now time to talk about the actual album (am I this forum's certified yapper at this point?). It's very clear that the "Slim Shady" character on TDOSS is really just encompassing late 90s-early 2000s em, which means that the Kamikaze era Slim that was basically just dissing random new rappers isn't really on here, which I'm more than fine with. So with that being said, here's the track by track ranking.
Renaissance
I'll be honest, this track didn't make that much of an impact at first. I think that the mixing on the vocals sounds kinda weird at first but the energy is definitely reminiscent of old Em, which I think is something that this whole album actually does really well at. Just wish it was a bit longer so that I could form a stronger opinion on it.
Habits
I've enjoyed basically every collab that Em and White Gold have done and this is no exception. I think that the "Gen Z canceling Eminem" theme that appears throughout this album is one of it's weakest points and the verses didn't really wow me. Also, am I the only person that finds the whole Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner references kinda weird. Not cause they're offensive or anything, it's just that Jenner hasn't really been a topical reference since like,,,2016? Weird choice.
Trouble
I actually really enjoyed all of the skits on the album. The actual rapping on this song is pretty short, but honestly just like with Renaissance I wish it was longer
Brand New Dance
I remember reading about the "Christopher Reeves" song on the Eminem Leak Tracker years ago, so actually hearing it is wild. I'm not the biggest fan of Encore em but the song's good. The beat reminds me of My 1st Single and the whole "beef" Em's had with Reeves is probably one of my favorite parts about his discography (Although I think the joke already had a pretty good ending on Relapse)
Evil
Not really the biggest fan. Nothing really stuck with me aside from the "I gave Skylar Grey hepatitis line". Marsh must be in shambles
All You Got
Another short skit. The whole "Slim made Em" theme reminds me a lot of My Darling
Lucifer
The Hitchcock sample was a nice callback to MTBMB. The "getting canceled on TikTok on Twitter" gets kinda old by this point in the album. Really liked the line where Em says that his haters will face the same fate as his dad, like holy s--- that's dark. Also the Columbine line is very similar to the Columbine reference in Kanye's Vultures. probably just a coincidence though. Got a huge kick out of Em calling candace Owens "Klandace"
Antichrist
My favorite song on the album. The first beat is really fun, and the hook's great. The Gen Z lines were a bit annoying, but they get canceled out by gems like "So hard, Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj'll scissor". It also has by far my favorite line on the album:
"Try not to get seen
With Ben Affleck, me, and Seth Green hangin' on to the left wing
Of Jeffrey Epstein's jet screamin', "Hey, don't forget me"
Great beat switch, and I never would've though that I'd say that a 2024 verse from Bizarre would be a high point
Fuel
There's nothing I can really say that others haven't said before me. JID and Em both killed it
Road Rage
Kinda surprised that this seems to be the least favorite song amongst other users. The first half is pretty boring, but as a big Southern rap fan I got a big kick out of the Juvenile homage after the beat switch. Wish it would've been longer than the first half.
Houdini
I'll be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Houdini when it came out. I was a bit scared that the whole album would just be nostalgia baiting to get a reaction (which it kinda is, but there's definitely a lot more discussion to be found here). I've warmed up to it though and I think it fits pretty well here.
Breaking News
Short skit. Nothing much here
Guilty Conscience 2
Oh boy. I think that this song is great, and honestly one of the most revealing in Em's career. I do think that this song is closer to being more of a "Evil Twin 2" than a full sequel to the original GC but I get why he chose the title. I think that the vocal distinctions between Em and Shady work great, and it really does feel like Slim is a completely different person than Em. I think that this definitely the album's centerpiece as it lays out the main themes very well. I think that Shady taking full credit for Em's personal and artistic success is definitely the defining theme of the album. I do think that the decision to k--- Shady off this early in the album is a bit odd, but I think that this is a great song, and it's definitely my favorite besides Antichrist
Head Honcho
Not really a fan of Ez Mil and Em's verse doesn't have anything mindblowing
Temporary
I think that the position Em takes in the song reflects the more personal side that the last quarter of the album at least tries to take. Em essentially writing a song to console his daughter about his death while he's still alive is very emotional of course. Not much to say aside from the fact that it's a very hard listen
Bad One
I like how Em calls out the corny white rappers that he's inspired (After Kamikaze, Youtube rappers have reached new lows). Nothing too noteworthy apart from that
Tobey
Didn't really care for the song when it dropped.... and I still don't. Babytron's hook is ok but nothing special. Em's verse is really weird at this point in this story. Maybe it'll grow, but not likely
Guess Who's Back
It's great to see Ken back. I guess we should thank Lil Wayne for mentioning him back in that 2020 interview (Sidenote: If it was on streaming, Dedication 2 would 100% be my pick for AOTW Club)
Somebody Save Me
Some people think that this is an odd closer for the album, but I disagree. Em's drug addiction is irreversibly tied with the Shady character, so it makes sense that an album about the persona revolves around arguably the worst effect that it had on Em's life. Great closer and MAYBE I'll check out a Jelly Roll album (I Live in Texas, he's near inescapable)
Final Thoughts:
In a lot of ways, TDOSS reminds me of JAY-Z's 4:44 and Kendrick's Mr. Morale. Not sonically of course, but it's clear that TDOSS is meant to be Em reflecting on his career and the Slim persona. I honestly can't tell what Em will do from this point on. The Shady character is d--- near inescapable at this point (it's literally the name of his label) but it's clear that Em feels that he needs to move past it in order to progress artistically. This kind of introspection REALLY makes me want to give this album a high score. But the execution does leave a lot to be desired. For a character with such a long and varied backstory, Shady's lyrics do revolve mainly around Gen Z, Midgets and Trans people (especially Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner). Unlike the Christopher Reeves references, these don't really serve as much of a point and they get pretty old. I think that the story works really well...at least until GC2. Aside from the skit and the 2 personal tracks, the rest of the album just seems to forget about the concept. And the issue is I really can't even think of how the last quarter could be fixed. Maybe I'll warm up to these songs but at least for now, they're the weakest bunch of songs (aside from Temporary and Somebody Save Me). With that being said, TDOSS has made me revisit Em's older work for the first time in a while, and I think that my score is definitely bias due to being an Em fan. If I wasn't I'm sure I'd probably give the record a very low rating like a 3 or a 4. But as an Em fan who gets the references and can actually understand what Em is trying to convey in this album, I had to bump it up to a 7.5 as it's something that I and a large amount of fans have been wanting to see from Marshall for a very long time.

Final Thoughts:
I really liked this album. It's a blast from the late 90s punk rock scene with its catchy tracks, clever lyrics, and infectious melodies. The humor might feel a bit old-school, but the core themes and tunes keep it relevant and fun. The lyrics are sharp and often tongue-in-cheek, covering topics like suburban discontent, teenage angst, and societal satire. The production is polished yet still has that raw punk rock edge, making it something I'd imagine both newbies and die-hard fans can enjoy.

The Offspring – Americana
This is one of the odd weeks where I get the monday off so I had plenty of time since last night to listen to this.
Favourite tracks - Have You Ever, The Kids Aren't Alright, Walla Walla, The End of the Line, No Brakes
Least favorite tracks - Feelings
This album was an incredibly enjoyable listen from start to finish. While I know The Offspring, like most people, I never really dove into this album specifically, though I did know a few songs.
After 3 play through what stands out to me is the consistency, there aren't any truly bad or absolute skip tracks on this record.
‘’Why Don't You Get a Job’’ gave me flashbacks of elementary school. It was nice and a bit weird to hear a song I hadn’t heard since I was a little kid. The opening line of that song is something everyone loved repeating. Same with the opening line of Under The Influence from MMLP.
Anyway, while I wouldn’t place this album in the prestigious 9 club. I personally hold Smash as the holy grail, this album certainly holds its own. Going with a weird decimal score on this one.

Final Thoughts:
While it certainly is depressing as other users have pointed out, "Sling" by Clairo feels like a cozy afternoon spent reflecting on life. This album is filled with rich, vintage sounds that remind me of older records. Jack Antonoff's production is top-notch, beautifully layering acoustic and electric elements. The lyrics hit home with themes of finding yourself, dealing with fame, and personal struggles. Simply put, it's a beautiful, touching record. And although it's not something I see myself returning to very often, I can imagine it suits well for those introspective moments when you need to feel understood.

I wanna start by saying that Clairo has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard in music. I find it an actual tragedy that I took this long to get to this album, I remember when the cover got revealed and I was like “I’ll check it out shortly after it drops” and my jaw dropped when I realized it dropped nearly 3 years ago. I get these reviews in last minute but be thankful I don’t take years to get to them! Anyways, this album was absolutely gorgeous to listen to. It starts very strong, but there’s parts in the middle where I found myself not as engaged, which is why I can’t give it a 10. I loved every single track, but it lost my attention at points. The singing, the instrumentation, the songwriting, how certain sounds/vocals would come in at points and be panned to different ears, just absolutely gorgeous. I have no major gripes with this album. Wow. Can’t wait for her new album next week, it’ll be perfect to listen to between listens of TDOSS as a palette cleanser! Thanks for the pick @Ripper Roo !

Favorite Songs: Bambi, Amoeba, Blouse, Harbor, Management
Least favorite: Joanie (there's nothing wrong with this song at all it's just that I like the instrumental so much I'm mad she didn't sing over it lmaoo)
I've had a busy week so I didn't get as much time as I wanted with this album but there's a positive! The positive is that I really enjoyed it and will be spinning this and her other projects in the future.
One thing that I noticed from the style immediately is that this specifically resembled the more warm and full sounds of a singer/songwriter album specifically, to make sure I wasn't going insane I looked up her influences and Bill Withers and Joni Mitchell were there so I'm spitting.
She has a very calming voice and an engaging bull chill writing style that makes for easy brain off and brain on listening, some of the lyrics are pretty depressing especially in songs like 'Blouse' but the melancholy way she sings almost makes it sound complacent which is even more depressing lol.
I usually think acoustic Jack Antonoff is quite boring but it really fits on this album. Since I did feature suggestions with Paris Texas I also want to say I think Clairo would fit perfect on a song with any of the Boygenius members, Hayley Williams solo work, or maybe even Big Thief
This isn't something I can listen to all the time but I can really see myself hitting a sad stint in the fall/winter and bumping this album heavy and it's gonna grow on me lol

hargydon’s Review of MID AIR
Firstly, I feel like MID AIR attempts to encapsulate a sense of disorientation & turbulence. These themes/concepts are at the same time intriguing, & ambitious. So I immediately appreciated the original style attempts, a niche I desperately want to hear more attempts at. Going into this I was curious, as this is the first time I’ve heard of this duo, but after multiple spins of the record, I’m not sure they have a big enough flare as performers or writers to pull this one off, at least yet. I thought the production, blending gritty, distorted guitars with heavy, trap-inspired beats completely overshadowed their capabilities. I actually found their performances quite annoying lol.
This was quite a disjointing experience because I tried to like it so bad but it just never happened.

least favorite songs: closed caption, bullet man
I liked the album overall, had some highlights that caught me off guard cause I can’t stand rock rap most of the time. I replayed a few of the songs a lot last week, the whole things got real repetetive real quick though. For me a project like this goes hard cause it scratches an itch in a way; it hits harder than you would expect it to but it definitely isn’t something I’d pick up daily. Paris Texas sound like they could evolve and eventually drop a great album, they just need to focus cause some of the songs have weak writing and weirdly realized song structures.

Favorite Songs: DND, Sean-Jared, Airborne, Everyone's Safe Until.., Ain't No High,...We Fall
I actually quite enjoyed my time with this album, a bit of the production can be a little samey in the first half and a couple songs probably could've been cut for time but overall it was a fun and charming listen.
I can see why some wouldn't like their writing since it's simple but their sense of humor really pulled me through it, idc what anyone says "She tryna meet/meat up like a Bluechew" is hilarious lmaoo.
I saw some dislike for Earth-2 and I see why but the instrumental reminds me a bit of Bloc Party so I'm legally obligated to not dislike it.
Also in the last couple tracks I got a little more personal lyrics than I was expecting which was really appreciated.
There's barely any features but I like Teezo so I thought he did good for the 5 seconds he was there and Kenny Mason f---in killed his verse. In the future I'd like to see these guys collab with Baby Keem, they give me similar vibes at points
I hate when people get specific with decimal points for album ratings but I'm really struggling on what to give it so......

OVERALL RATING: 7/10
I liked it, it kinda reminded me of early xxxtentacion and ski mask music. It just didn’t affect me enough to give it a super high score or have deep thoughts on it, but a 7/10 is still a good album. I feel like I’ve been giving most of these albums 7s or 8s lol. Some of these songs definitely went on my workout playlist. I feel like this could grow on me throughout time

Title: Three 6 Mafia - When The Smoke Clears
Standouts: Sippin' on Some Syrup, Who Run It, Tongue Ring, I'm So Hi, Who Run It
Skips: Mafia N****z, Barrin You b------s, Touched Wit it,
Score: 7/10
Final Thoughts:
IMO this album effectively showcases Three 6 Mafia's dark, gritty style. Blending horrorcore themes with hardcore Southern hip-hop, the production by DJ Paul and Juicy J create a haunting atmosphere with heavy bass lines, sharp snares, and eerie synths. Lyrically, the group delves into dark and controversial topics like drug use and violence. The album solidifies Three 6 Mafia's place in the rap game with its dark, gritty, and unapologetically raw sound. It's an excellent example of Southern hip-hop and horrorcore, bringing a unique sound that stands out from the mainstream. While it may not be for everyone, and it can feel repetitive or filler at times, if you're a fan of gritty, hardcore hip-hop, you won't be disappointed.
