Feb 15, 2025 Carti is still one of my favorite artists but he’s definitely gone way down the list over the years especially with how he keeps playing games and not dropping his album after saying he’s gonna drop it a million times. I like most of the artists on my mixtape better tbh. Also all the underground clones of Carti are starting to get really annoying and boring as well. That’ll be interesting to see. Ikr? There are many times I thought it would die.
Feb 15, 2025 Ngl the mixtape mania kind of made me excited for this group again don’t get me wrong, AOTWClub was still fun and very special to the forum (and one of the main reasons I continued to stay active), but after awhile things start to get repetitive, especially when I’m in the midst of school! Everything needs something new and exciting every once in awhile, and I feel like you guys all feel the same. Mixtape Mania was and continues to be an amazing idea! Getting ready for class while listening to a new mixtape every Friday has been a highlight of my week the last few weeks
Feb 15, 2025 EVERY ROO HAS ITS DAY- Ripper Roo "Every Roo Has Its Day, Now Doggystyle Shall Help" This one will probably be a bit short. I liked a good amount of tracks (Count Me Out, Got Me Geeked, Sexy Girl Anthem, Juna, Take Me Back to LA, Talk Talk, How ) On the other hand there were a few tracks that I didn't really vibe with. I had never heard a Glaive song before, and the two tracks on here did nothing for me. They're just not my thing. Didn't really like the 6lack track that much either. While I did like a lot of the songs on here, the ones I didn't bring the score down a bit. I do wanna say that the tape is very cohesive though, which definitely works in its favor. I guess I should check out Charm though, since Juna is probably the best Clairo song I've heard probably ever. Big thanks to @Ripper Roo for the tape and yeah Favorites: Count Me Out, Got Me Geeked, Juna, How Rating: 7/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Feb 15, 2025 Why’d you leak the deluxe title? Finally someone actually liked How, that’s gotta be one of my favs on here and a classic when I’m driving home at night It’s good you and others thought it was cohesive, mission accomplished. For the next mixtape now I almost wanna see if I can get a bunch of songs that don’t fit together at all but still have it be good or maybe devolve into complete chaos It’s like Sling’s sister but she’s into jazz and other 70s music and also just recently fell in love Thanks for listening!
Feb 15, 2025 Is it just me or will the next round’s mixtape be trickier to assemble now that we’ve all shown our hand lmao.
Feb 15, 2025 If I’m not mistaken, we are doing themes with our mixtapes from here on out so it’s not just “fav 16 songs” over and over
Feb 15, 2025 Forgot about that completely, that will be fun. Looking forward to going back to the forum’s roots and making a full on rap mixtape when that time comes.
Feb 15, 2025 Im planning to go in a complete left turn mood-wise from my last one, but it’s def gonna be harder this time around.
Feb 15, 2025 It's nice when everyone has the freedom to be creative with their mixtape. There are only so many songs that fit a specific theme like Halloween. But if the theme is something broader like "90s music" then there is more possibilities.
Feb 16, 2025 Alright it's the websites favorite gay boy next up. Presenting: INTO THE JANK-VERSE I had a hard time figuring out a theme that made any cohesive sense so I decided to abandon that and give you 4 different vague genres with 4 songs given to each! I've to the best of my abilities tried to transition from genre to genre as smoothly as possible to varying levels of success but it works in my brain lmao. SONGS 1-4 (Rock/Grunge): Cream - White Room Fontaines D.C. - I Love You Soundgarden - Fell On Black Days Alice In Chains - Nutshell SONGS 5-8 (Acoustic/Indie) Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - Bartender (Live at Radio City Music Hall) Big Thief - Simulation Swarm Phoebe Bridgers - Georgia Quadeca - Texas Blue SONGS 9-12 (Rap) GR€Y - Out Of My Hands (feat. Oddisee) Noname - Rainforest Mavi - Spoiled Brat Vince Staples - Yeah Right SONGS 13-16 (Hyperpop/Zoomer s---) Funeral - everybodydies Charli XCX - Claws Ericdoa - Search & Destroy Daine - smbl2 I hope everyone finds something to enjoy as I've tried to not flood it with a bunch of stuff that I usually talked about enjoying (with a few exceptions) and I figured this format would find a way to guarantee that at least some parts of the mixtape will be entertaining for everyone and the degrees of taste and musical interest. There is a ton of genres and artists that I've left out that I hope to get to at a later time in this thread!
