Allis Mines - Big Monkey's Blowup Doll
Wow, BM's blowup doll knows a lot of rap lyrics surprisingly. So here's the tbt:
    1. D.R.U.G.S.- Decent track. It was neat hearing Mac on the hook
    2. Symmetry- Pretty good. I’m really only familiar with Saba from CFM and his features on Chance’s projects so this was pretty good I’d say
    3. Carefree- Pretty d--- good. Mick slides on this beat my god
    4. (How Could Anybody) Feel at Home- I think I’m only aware of OME because of his appearance on Eric Andre. Very nice track though, the beats so far have been pretty chill which is really cool
    5. Waves On Every Chain- Dope track. Reminds me of something I’d listen to on the radio on the way to the gym. Definitely a switch up form the first 4, but I think it works well
    6. Not A Drill- Decent track, although I’d say that it’s my least favorite from the tape
    7. Fresh Prince- Decent track.
    8. Dead Or Alive- Good track, I like it!
    9. Reality Check- Woah, this is from the album that Allis suggested in my album log thread. I dig it a lot actually. From the artists name I expected some Cannibal Ox-esque music, but this was pretty soulful surprisingly.
    10. The Come Up- First solo AZ track I’ve heard that isn’t from Doe or Die. AZ is great as usual, and d--- that Premier beat is sick
    11. F (R) Iends- Good track, beat change was quite unexpected
    12. Indian Summer- amazing track. Billy and Elucid are great and Alc's production is stellar. Haram is so f---ing dope
    13. Deeper- First solo Roc Marci song I’ve ever heard. It’s dope, I like the beat and his flow is dope as well
    14. Mommy Dearest (A Eulogy)- I remember hearing lots of talk about Manger on McNichols back in 2020, and I can see why. Boldy’s f---ing great
    15. Lemon- Conway is always great, but m---…holy s---.
    16. Matthew in the Middle- Pretty good track, works as a good closer.
Overall I enjoyed a good amount of the tracks on here. I think this is the push i needed to listen to some of the albums these songs are from (Reloaded, FKTAG, MOM, MOTU etc.) Although, I think the name is a bit misleading, because realistically, a Big Monkey mixtape would include nothing but Eminem edits with made up titles. Jokes aside, big thanks to @Allis Mines for the tape and yeah.
FAVORITES: Symmetry, Carefree, HCAFAH, Reality Check, The Come Up, Lemon
    RATING: 7.5/10

    The Desolation of Jim Jazz

This mixtape has a unique vibe of cultivated taste and sophistication. Most of this music falls outside my usual preferences, but I've been making an effort to expand my musical horizons and appreciate sounds beyond my typical niche

I really enjoyed the vibe on Empty Stomach Space Cadet. Same goes for the Gorillaz track, especially the second half when the beat kicks in with the vocals. The second song on the mixtape by Parquet Courts was definitely a highlight for me, along with Baby Criminal.

Favorites: Baby Criminal, Almost Had to Start a Fight / In and Out of Patience, Alone, Together, Empire Ants, Empty Stomach Space Cadet

Least favorite: Jimmy Jazz (No offense to the username lol) and Born Under Punches.

    6.8 + 0.2 for including a Youtube link

    7/10

It feels so weird knowing that AOTWClub is almost a year old. I hadn’t posted that much in months, but the club really made me more active. Gonna expose myself as a zoomer here (:emoji_slight_frown:) but whenever I think of the first few aotwclub picks I keep thinking about preparing to go to colllege for the first time and things like that. The albums picked have honestly made a big impression on me, and I can’t wait to see what music we choose in the future

I just realized like half of the club are zoomers too holy s---

AOTWClub started the week after my last exam during my freshman year of college, so I tend to think more of the summer and getting my first job. I will say this club has partially carried me through this school year, It’s crazy to look back at some of these albums and be like “we did this s--- in September?”

Changing classes every semester is something I’ll never get used to hahah it feels like some of these albums we did a year ago already but it’s only been 5-6 months

Thank you for listening and reviewing man!

You already know we gotta look out for the youtube people, few years back it was the sole platform that I used for music and getting hit with spotify and apple links when someone was trying to share music with me would piss me off lmao.

Some of you are toddlers. Can't even tease jank anymore!

Jokes aside, the mix of people from different ages/backgrounds is what creates variety with these picks

This club has become a good reason to visit the forum and discover new music.

    h--- yea

Had to use a Spotify playlist downloader for most mixtapes so far. It only lets you download each song individually. Having a youtube link definitely made things easier.

Appreciate you guys staying involved in aotw for almost a year now.

Been easy to do this since you guys consistently stay involved.

I definitely wasn't thinking this would work since S80 doesn't stay busy unless an Eminem album is releasing.

Anyways it's looking more and more like 70s-80s will be our mixtape genre. I wouldn't mind throwing 90s in there too, but that's up to you guys?

Also i think the age difference between users on here helps with the variety of music, which definitely makes things interesting.

Tomorrow ill post the upcoming schedule which will go in the same order as last mixtape.

Also i will be MIA from Wednesday Night until Sunday Afternoon, my Trump defending southern Lover is flying in to see me for a few days (shes not that brainwashed by Donny, she seems to be seeing the light lol)

So anyways I'll be catching up on Reviews posted Thursday fri sat on Sunday when I get back to Canada

Also, on the topic of special events, I feel like any HUGE hip hop release should get an event in this thread

any new Em album, Carti, Rocky, Detox (lol)

just any project that’s highly anticipated, like if AOTWClub was around for Utopia we could’ve had that as a special event
