Mar 16, 2025 To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand MUSIC. The writing is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the lyrics will go over a typical listener's head. There's also Carti's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lyrics, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Playboi Carti truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Carti's existencial catchphrase "THEY THOUGHT I WAS GAY," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Jordan Carter's genius unfolds itself on their Spotify accounts. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have an Opium tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
Mar 16, 2025 Sorry bro, "Like a Virgin" and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" are reserved for my mixtape.
Mar 16, 2025 Gonna give MUSIC a few more spins before I submit my review, expect it towards the middle of the week (if I have time, I’m back in school this week so I’ll see lol, might be a usual Friday review)
Mar 16, 2025 What the f--- did you just f---ing say about me, you little b----? I'll have you know I was ranked top of the sub in the Opium subreddit, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Anti-Carti IG pages, and I have over 300 confirmed discord bans. I am trained in forum warfare and I'm the top shooter in the entire Carti fanbase. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the f--- out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my f---ing words. You think you can get away with saying that s--- to me over the Internet? Think again, f---er. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of vamps across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're f---ing dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can k--- you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in internet arguments, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Opium fanbase and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable a--- off the face of the continent, you little s---. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your f---ing tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you g.d. idiot. I will s--- fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're f---ing dead, kiddo. SLATT!
Mar 17, 2025 @AOTWClub Playboi Carti - I Am Music I'm going to start off by saying WLR is close to being my favourite album of all time, and my most listened to album according to Last FM. So I had very high expectations for this. Overall, it wasn't as good as I was hoping but still pretty solid. The highlight for me is that Carti is showing all his variety on this. He's got like 7 different voices now lmao. The production is pretty crazy for the most part. I liked the more sinister/dark songs. I thought the use of future, Travis, and Kendrick was really good. He said that this was going to be "hella trim" but it's kind of the opposite. Its pretty bloated and the fact that there continues to be mixing updates after release tells me this iwas not a 100% finished product. I really start losing interest around the 50 minute mark and it becomes a chore to finish. It doesn't help that there are two filler songs from Young Thug and Lil Uzi Vert which should have been songs on their own albums. Cartis just showing love I Guess? Lulu Uzi repeating "Pink tape" was a bit weird, and makes it so obvious it was a pink tape throw away. This is probably my least favourite carti album but still pretty good. I'm hoping the same thing that happened to a lot of people with WLR happens to me, and with time it's starts clicking. My rating: 7/10 My rating of other playboi albums: Self titled: 7.5/10 Die Lit: 8/10 WLR: 10/10 @Justin Trudeau
Mar 17, 2025 It’s been stuck in my head since the snippet came out months before the album. I think it was December
Mar 17, 2025 @AOTWClub Big.Monkeys Blow Up Doll Review Favorite songs: D.R.U.G.S, Symmetry, The Valley / Dead Or Alive, Feel At Home, Reality Check, The Come Up, F (r) iends, Lemon Least favourite: Fresh Prince , DEEPER Listening to an all-rap mixtape was surprisingly refreshing. None of the tracks here were familiar so it was nice to discover some new music. Over the past few years, I’ve been fully immersed into rock/metal so it’s been a while since I’ve given rap much attention. The song selection was solid and the transition between them was smooth. The opener was great, it was cool to hear some newer stuff along with some old-school tracks like The Come Up. The production on F(r)iends was very impressive. That said, there were still a few tracks I wasn’t into. Fresh Prince felt very basic and repetitive. Alchemist who’s production I never really liked. Overall, it was a well-curated mixtape. Despite the uncalled snitching attempt to SM lol, and the questionable scoring of my own mixtape, which I can only assume was an honest review, I’m here to focus on the music and this was definitely one of the better mixtapes. 8.2/10
Mar 17, 2025 Hey @Michael Myers I can't edit your post for the carti album so it's your job to tally it up this week @Allis Mines just gave it a 7
Mar 17, 2025 h--- yeah I was almost done putting together a strictly 70s/80s mixtape today, and it was turning out better than I expected lol. But I’m all for switching it up. This is gonna be a b-----r round.
Mar 17, 2025 I don’t know much about the 70s or 80s so my mixtape probably gonna be 90s heavy but we will see
Mar 17, 2025 That’s 90s part helps a lot even though I already have a handful from the 70s and 80s can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with!
Mar 17, 2025 Will have my Carti review in tn or tomorrow, just had the chance to play it thru in full while driving and it passed the whip test with flying colors
