Mar 23, 2025 For everyone that hasn't yet, you can get in your 1/10's for Carti till tuesday and I'll post the score.
Mar 23, 2025 I think I got all my songs for my mixtape barring one or two changes that might happen for the sake of consistency, now the challenge is to make the sequencing work at all lmao. I think my tape might be a lot of new stuff for the zoomers in the group but I expect everyone pushing like 30 to know most of the songs here
Mar 24, 2025 @AOTWClub I AM MUSIC: I'm actually gonna keep this one short cause I think my thoughts on this record are relatively cut and dry. I think it's too long and it kinda grew off me the more I listened but it also made me like Carti more than I previously have, after this album finished songs from WLR came on and I found myself having a much better time listening to those than I did when I first heard that album. I don't think this subgenre is super for me but I'm always willing to give it a chance and I got a handful of decent songs on here which I'm happy with! As negative as this sounds so far I didn't hate the album, I have appreciation for the style and Carti helping carve out a new style of rap is cool whether you like it or not, a lot of the beats on here are crazy and when Cartis vocals or cadences work for me they really work. I think the Thug and Uzi tracks are overhated, I'm not an avid listener of those two either so I might not know what people wanted from them but I thought they were both solid. The Kendrick features were fun albeit a little out of place feeling on songs like Mojo JoJo but it really worked for me on Backdoor which is one of the best songs on the album imo, I could've also done with one or two less Travis features something about a couple of em didn't click with me super hard. Weeknd did his thing. I like that there's a place of this kind of rap and obviously it's resonating with people which is cool, I also like the amount of different kinds of people that wanna work with Carti, getting rappity rap people, trap artists and R&B/pop singers all hopping on this album makes for a pretty unique experience that you can't quite get anywhere else so I'm happy I listened! P.S. Pop Out f---ing owns and the I SEEEEEE YOU BABY BOI beat is the best one on the album Favorite songs: Pop Out, Rather Lie, Fine s---, Backd00r, Toxic, Good Credit, I SEEEEE YOU BABY BOI, Trim, Twin Trim, Like Weezy (realized I might like this album more than I let on with the amount of favorites but the album length broke me down a bit for the kind of music it is lmao) RATING: 6.5/10
Mar 24, 2025 Whole Lotta Red Die Lit MUSIC Self-titled WLR very clearly his best to me. The other three you could make a solid argument for a bunch of different orders
Mar 24, 2025 i have begun making scarily accurate gunshot noises with my mouth in tribute to carti #slatt
Mar 24, 2025 "Cocaine nose, cocaine nose Cocaine nose, cocaine nose Cocaine nose, cocaine nose Cocaine nose, cocaine nose"
Mar 25, 2025 Wreckless - Born to Boomer Favorites: Princess of the Night, Everything Zen, Get Back, No Prayer for the Dying, Dirty Boots, New Dawn Fades RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 10/10!!!! Wreckless went from having the lowest mixtape rating to having the highest next round. Truly an inspiring redemption arc. As I kept going down the tracklist, I was really wondering if there would be a song I didn’t like and that song never came. There were songs I didn’t like as much at first but they won me over by the end. There’s lots of amazing instrumentation throughout this tape along with creative song structures. I have no complaints and am forced to give this a 10/10. Out of all the songs here I’ve only previously heard Black Dog, Louie Louie, and Doctor Doctor. Black Dog and Doctor Doctor in particular I have heard a lot over the years due to my grandparents playing older music when I grew up. Plus, a lot of gyms I’ve went to also play this type of music. I have appreciation for these older eras of music, I just haven’t delved into them as deeply yet as I have with more modern music. When it comes to my tape I wanna try to do some research. This tape opens and ends beautifully with Princess of the Night being a b-----r and New Dawn Fades being a creative track that really does have that feeling of a closing track when it’s in this context. While I liked all the songs here, the biggest highlight for me is Get Back. Maybe it’s because it’s the only song with a female lead vocalist that I recall but I also sense some energy that has inadvertently inspired some of my favorite artists today. The website is glitching and crashing as I type this so I’m not gonna yap on much longer lmao. Incredible tape here. I know I’ve given a lot of 10/10s with these tapes at this point but this has to be one of the best @AOTWClub
Mar 25, 2025 Holy smoke! I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you liked Get Back, i'd definitely recommend checking out her album. I had a feeling some of you would like that song. It wasn’t until the end that I realized the mixtape was missing a female vocalist, so I ended up swapping it with another song. From the same album Spoiler Btw, Moby, the "36 year old bald-headed f--" that Em disses on Without Me has a cover song of New Dawn Fade and it's fire. If you've ever seen the movie Heat the song is in it. It has more of an electronic vibe to it.
Mar 25, 2025 I don't know if my mixtape is a 10, but I’m definitely not complaining about it haha. There’s one track I think might be a bit polarizing for some, but I’ll keep it under wraps for now and let everyone have a chance to listen to it.
Mar 25, 2025 Wreckless tape looks like a 10 on paper. I think its going to be a high scoring round for everyone if we base it on individual song quality. There are millions of classics to choose from. I see you have already chosen a song from an artist (UFO) I was thinking of putting on the next project in the Big Monkey Trilogy, which I will penalise you for.
Mar 25, 2025 If BM’s blowup doll was the first installment, i live in fear of whatever the third one is
