Aug 1, 2024 It’s pretty much back to back to back bangers with only Classic Interlude interrupting it. It was gonna be hard for the second disc to beat that although the second disc has some bangers as well
Aug 1, 2024 joels album is a 8/10 for me. I love KA and never heard of this album so was a great listen. The mythology concept was tight. Big Krit - 4 Eva is a mighty long time. Hands down the best Krit album. Fantastic mix of dirty south bangers and more introspective. Top 5 double album OAT. 9/10 Sorry for short reviews I been busy in the streets @Justin Trudeau
Aug 1, 2024 Big K.R.I.T. - 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time Favorite tracks: Big K.R.I.T., Confetti, Big Bank, Subenstein,1999, Layup, Get Away, Mixed Messages, Keep the devil Off, Miss Georgia Fornia, Price of Fame, Drinking Sessions Skips: none unless you wanna count the interludes but even those were kinda humorous and add some personality to the album OVERALL RATING: 9/10 Thoughts: Krit is great at balancing the conscious messages with absolute bangers. I gave this album more listens than probably all the other albums we’ve listened to so far (except for my pick). The second disc grew on me a lot, although I still think the first disc is better. I prefer the southern rap bangers, although that second disc has some nice introspection that the album needed. The jazzy, folky, gospel type s--- really complements that introspection. There’s some relatable stuff on that second disc. There’s some lines on this album I’d like to highlight. “Drinking Sessions” in particular has some amazing lines. I think the best line on the album is: “Everybody trying to die young but who gon' talk about life?” And these lines from the song really hit hard too: “I ain't promotin' no violence, it's people out here been wildin' So much that you can get gunned down just for being happy and smilin' Ain't no hotline worth dialin' to say the world needs help We too busy fillin' our needs that we might k--- us ourselves” It’s songs like this and “Price of Fame” that really got me thinking about my own life, and that’s special to me because it’s not often that albums make me do that anymore since I’m so numb to it all. These lines on “The Light” are too poignant to pass up: “Because my dreams are dreams, don't make them less real Nightmares are still the same thing” I love this album! I have no complaints other than the second half feeling weaker to me. This is the second project I’ve heard from Krit, I need to check out more of his stuff! @AOTWClub
Aug 1, 2024 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time Review Favorite tracks: Confetti, Big Bank, Subenstein, Ride Wit Me, Get Up 2 Come Down, Mixed Messages, Price of Fame, Drinking Sessions, Bury Me in Gold Least favorite tracks: 1999, Justin Scott, Keep the Devil Off, The Light I've always had a soft spot for Southern rap and revisiting this album after all these years made me realize I must have skimmed through it the first time. Disk 1 is nearly flawless, spoiled by only one track. While Disk 2 is less consistent, it still features standout moments with tracks like “Mixed Messages” and “Bury Me in Gold” amongst others. If I were rating Disk 1 alone, it would score a 9/10, possibly even 9.5. As a complete album, it still earns a strong 8.5/10. @AOTWClub
Aug 1, 2024 Was just thinking if Marsh woulda joined Aotw he'd be like this big krit album is good but it didn't sell good and he's only got 1 million monthly listeners so 1/10
Aug 2, 2024 Big K.R.I.T. - 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time review Favorites: Big K.R.I.T., Confetti, Big Bank, Subenstein, 1999, Ride Wit Me, Get Away, Mixed Messages, Miss Georgia Fornia(favorite track on the whole thing), Bury me in gold, get up 2 come down least favorite: couple tracks on disk 2 I never really felt like I wanna go back to over the years but they’re still solid songs In my opinion this is a modern classic of southern rap. Banging beats, cohesive, great flows and content, it also does not get repetitive or stale despite its long runtime. Krit has a solid discography, bar the last 2 or so albums which were, IMO, just fine. I feel like this album is something that not many MC’s would be able to surpass quality wise after dropping it, and that’s why it’s a shame the record did not get the recognition it deserved. Krit has fizzled out of the public eye lately but I remember when this thing dropped he was bordering the mainstream hip-hop circles and it felt like he will surely make it. He never did though and was kind of left on the sidelines and is, sadly, not included in a lot of these hiphop lists and discussions today. This record does a lot over its 2 discs, it starts out with an array of bangers and progresses into some more lowkey, soulfull tracks which continue lining up on disc 2. I agree with the consensus that Disc 1 is stronger but the second one is no slouch either; besides from some personal cuts and great instrumentation on there, Miss Georgia Fornia has got to be one of the funkiest and most charming songs I’ve heard on a hiphop record ever; the song begs you to rap and sing along to it. I applaud Krit for creating an album this ambitious and sonically diverse yet so authentic and true to his southern roots. It is rare for a hip-hop album this long to keep me engaged and interested throughout, but he definitely did it. Alexa, play Classic Interlude by Big K.R.I.T. 8.5/10
Aug 2, 2024 Based off of Marsh’s NSFW threads, he’d probably recommend a Rosalia album and I wouldn’t complain
Aug 2, 2024 Review coming ASAP but man I can't believe I'm saying this but Riff Raff would have unironically killed Subenstein
Aug 2, 2024 @AOTWClub First things first. Krits voice and flow are immaculate, sometimes southern rap can be a big hit or a big miss for me but his style is great. There's a confronting thing for me with this album and it's that even though I like most of the songs the runtime just makes it tiring even though there consistent quality. I appreciate the second disc being a bit smoother and I like subject matter on songs like The Light but I would be lying if I said the bangers weren't my favorites on the album. I can see myself going back to this as a whole when I know I'm gonna be too busy to pay attention to the music I'm choosing for a long period and want this vibe, but even without full revists I got a lot of songs I'm definitely going back to. My discussion about the length of the project is kinda overtaking my actual thoughts so I'll say I really enjoyed it and I need to listen to more K.R.I.T. for sure, I'm a sucker for southern bangers and this album was full of them! Favorite songs: Big K.R.I.T., Confetti, Big Bank, Subenstein, Keep The Devil Off, Price Of Fame. Honorable Mentions: Aux Cord, The Light, Drinking Sessions RATING 7.5/10 (with room to grow, closer to an 8 than a 7)
Aug 2, 2024 This is a very loose review as I only had a chance to listen once. So not exactly a fair review, especially by my standards. I like some Southern rap, especially Luda and this didn't disappoint from the first few tracks. It definitely got worse towards the end but I've got no idea of track names. Current score: 7/10 but I could see it going up if I was able to give this more time but the length just puts me off being able to spend quality time with it.
