Sep 6, 2024 This is great news. What a coincidence too, I just locked in my next pick. I’m not picking a good album this time.
Sep 6, 2024 TBH I was expecting a little controversy, mainly because it's a white rapper and people get a bit weird about it. But I definitely disagree with the comments about surface level lyrics and and story telling for the sake of story telling. I thinks It's deeper than they are giving credit. He does say some goofy stuff sometimes but this is one of the GOAT concept albums imo. That being said it's definitely backpacker underground rap, so I get why people wouldn't be into it. Asides from God loves Ugly, Lucy Ford and You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We Are Having are also great. Their newer projects since Lemons are mostly Dad rap.
Sep 6, 2024 We’ll see what my wheel decides! I’m picking one of my personal favorites instead of “album that I heard is amazing but I haven’t listened to yet”, so we’ll see how my taste stacks up compared to yalls recs!
Sep 6, 2024 Not good in as in a lot of people hate it but you like it or the album is just s--- in general?
Sep 6, 2024 @AOTWClub I get the divisiveness here but I really don't hate this Atmosphere project as much as y'all lol I've heard of them before but all I knew is that they were underground and wasn't really familiar with the style of rap itself. I tried to listen earlier throughout the week but I could tell I wouldn't be in the mood for it at all so these are fresh thoughts from the two listens I gave it today. First off I really like the production most of the time, it lends itself to storytelling raps but there's a couple beats I'm not the biggest fan of, overall it's solid in that regard. Secondly I enjoyed the rapping for what it is but it's not really my style, there's a bit of a 90s era way of storytelling that can come of a bit cornball but it's well executed for what it is. Thirdly I can absolutely hear the Macklemore comparisons in some of his flows and his voice, Macklemore is much more pop rap which makes it come off cornier for him though. I also like how the music box at the end loops to the same sound at the beginning of the album which can recontexualize some of the earlier songs in the tracklist to be about the little girl rapped about in the last song, or that's at least how I took it lol Favorite Songs: Dreamer, Me, Yesterday, In Her Music Box Overall: Not my thing and there's styles of storytelling I enjoy way more in my music but I don't think it's done poorly for what was intended at all. RATING 6.5/10
Sep 6, 2024 Man I can't wait to watch all the halloween movies again next month! Except this piece of s--- movie lmao
Sep 6, 2024 I think Ressurection and the Chucky movie with Redman would make the most confusing bad double feature ever
Sep 6, 2024 The album has a few good songs but overall it’s only an album that I like in an ironic way, it’s not something I’d actually say that I like or call good. I don’t think the album is s--- but it’s mediocre and I think most people in this group will hate it. It’s not necessarily an album a lot of people hate, just an album people don’t take seriously
Sep 6, 2024 I like how I blamed the guy for Macklemore and then nearly every review after that mentioned Macklemore lol
Sep 6, 2024 I’ve been getting my friends to watch horror movies lately, they just recently watched the Scream franchise. I keep warning them about Halloween Resurrection though, hopefully they are prepared for what’s to come.
Sep 6, 2024 True lmao but I dunno Seed of Chucky at least is somewhat amusing. Ressurection is just cringe.
Sep 6, 2024 I actually was saying this to my friends the other day. I legit think Scream might be the best horror franchise ever although I haven’t watched a ton of horror franchises yet so I can’t necessarily say that yet It’s a shame Jenna and Melissa are out. They are what made Scream 5 and 6 really good to me.
