Got my hands on a pair of Sennheiser momentum 4s. Time to give Atmosphere’s discography a listen to test these bad boys out. Gonna christen them hoes.

I’ve been listening to all these albums via my neighbor’s Bluetooth speaker when I put my tin cans on my ear and up to his wall. I have to time it to where I listen when his wife is at work and he’s off cheating on her. Sometimes the lyrics are hard to make out which is why I don’t bother talking about them in my reviews anymore.

Hey man, if it works it works.

These headphones are a nice change of pace for me since I listened to all the albums we reviewed in this group via the discman belonging to my wife’s boyfriend.

    Low - David Bowie REVIEW

    Score: 9.0

    Review:
What the f---, actually what the f---. This album was amazing, I have got to dive deeper into Bowie's discog now because I am blown away. If I did not know better and you told me this was his last album before he passed (and not Blackstar 39 years later), I would believe you. The last half of the album being those instrumentals was something I did not expect, and all of them felt so haunting, something felt so final about those. I don't know, this album just really blew me away. I don't even really have the words for it. Fantastic f---ing album and a fantastic f---ing pick @Yeez , I really am blown away. I should check out Heroes as well since that appears to play some inspiration for Tyler's upcoming album. An overall fantastic listen and an album that will see constant love from me here on out. Love love love it.

    @AOTWClub

    David Bowie - LOW

Heroes is probably the only David Bowie song I’m familiar with so I appreciate this album pick. Some of the sounds on this record were quite relaxing, but overall, the album didn’t do much for me.

I feel like Bowie is one of those artists whose music would hit differently if it was part of my upbringing, something I would enjoy more if it played in the household growing up but that wasn’t my experience.

That said, this album was probably revolutionary for it’s time. Not something I’d listen to on a daily basis but I appreciate the artistry behind it and enjoyed a lot of the melodies on the album.

    6.5/10

Brudda, the modern rating system for video games has led many to think that anything below an 8 is garbage.

In the realm of music and movies a score of 6.5 is solid. Movies that get an 8 or above are usually all time classics.

I don’t believe in giving out 10/10s even for my favorite albums. More often than not, there’s at least one song that falls flat. For example, I’d probably rate TES around a 9.7 even though it’s likely my number one album of all time.

Here's a breakdown according to ChatGPT.

Sure! Here’s a breakdown of music scores on a scale from 1 to 10:

    1 - Poor

Characteristics: Disorganized, lacks melody, and rhythm. Instruments may clash and vocals are off-key.
Impact: Unpleasant to listen to, often feels unfinished or careless.

    2 - Fair

Characteristics: Some semblance of structure but still heavily flawed. Few interesting moments, with major issues in execution.
Impact: Can be grating; may only appeal to very niche audiences.

    3 - Mediocre

Characteristics: Basic ideas present, but lacking depth. Simple melodies and predictable progressions.
Impact: Forgettable; not engaging enough to warrant repeated listening.

    4 - Decent

Characteristics: More cohesive than mediocre but still shows significant weaknesses in composition and performance.
Impact: Some enjoyable moments, but overall lacks polish.

    5 - Average

Characteristics: Competent but unremarkable. Standard song structures and familiar themes without unique twists.
Impact: Can be enjoyable in the background but doesn’t stand out.

    6 - Good

Characteristics: Solid craftsmanship with catchy hooks and competent instrumentation. A few standout moments or clever ideas.
Impact: Likely to be enjoyed by a wider audience, though may not be memorable in the long run.

    7 - Very Good

Characteristics: Strong melodies and well-executed arrangements. Displays creativity and emotional resonance.
Impact: Likely to be revisited; resonates well with listeners.

    8 - Excellent

Characteristics: High level of artistry, innovative concepts, and emotional depth. Great production quality and skilled performances.
Impact: Memorable and impactful; stands out in its genre.

    9 - Exceptional

Characteristics: Masterful composition and execution. Unique sound, profound lyrics, and emotional connection that transcends typical boundaries.
Impact: Leaves a lasting impression and can influence others; often considered a classic.

    10 - Masterpiece

Characteristics: A pinnacle of artistic achievement. Flawless integration of all elements—melody, harmony, rhythm, lyrics, and production.
Impact: Timeless quality; often cited as a benchmark in music history, inspiring generations.

I think 6.5 for an album I will never listen to again, not even for one song is a fair score. Don't make me hit you in the head with a participation trophy

I just see anywhere in the 6’s as above average, since 5 is what I consider average, and it just kinda shocked me to see a 6.5 for the album considering a lot of people consider this album to be towards the realm of an 8-10. Wasn’t trying to come at ya, just makes it fun to see what score I can get out of you!

    1-3: varying degrees of bad

No worries, my post was meant to be lighthearted as well. I was just sharing my perspective. If I don’t see myself listening to an album or any songs from that album again, it’s tough to rate it higher than a 7.

I don't really connect with a lot of music outside of Hip-Hop, Hard Rock & Metal. So when an album falls outside those genres, it’s also likely to get a lower score.

The first album you picked I gave it an 8.5. If your next pick is Yeezus, then you might have a heart attack when you see my score. Otherwise it shouldn't be too bad lol.
