Oct 26, 2024 They put me on more hours for the days where I usually listen to the picks, gonna try and get a review in tmrw. Its a long project and I actually want to give it my attention.
Oct 27, 2024 Blu & Exile- Miles This album is really solid, from the top tier production and great lyrics. I had never listened to a project from them before. There wasn't much I didn't like on my 2 listens (albums long didn't have time for 3). The rapping over jazz in the outro was awesome. I'm always a big fan of rappers using jazz samples, loved the new Juicy J project because of that. I definitely am gonna check out more projects, I'd say my favorite songs are: The feeling Blue as I can be Miles away Spread sunshine Overall I'd give this album a solid 7.5 @AOTWClub
Oct 27, 2024 @Michael Myers it's your turn to pick an album for this week, I'll.be tallying up Blu & Exile on Wednesday night @AOTWClub
Oct 27, 2024 Blu & Exile - Miles review For such a long project, this record is remarkably consistent. Blu's rapping and Exile's production is solid throughout. The features on this project really play complimentary roles, never steal the limelight, so outside of some RnB sung hooks the focus is mostly on Blu vocally and lyrically. Blu delivers his vintage flow on each track, the only issue is that with the length of this project it becomes very same-y. Blu has a main flow that he relies on, and it works for the most part, but it doesn't create the most dynamic and varied experience. And you notice that his lyrical style consists of him listing stuff a lot. Like almost every song he seems like he is always listing things. BUT, lyrically, he does a lot of cool things throughout this record. He interweaves certain motifs throughout this album (touching on colors, jazz music, geography), and these motifs really elevate the lyrical messages of these tracks and give this record as a whole a very cohesive feel. The production from Exile is fantastic all around. His production feels so nostalgic, so laid back, and so well executed. You listen to this record on really good headphones and the production really stands out. If you are already a fan of Blu and Exile, this is highly recommended. You get great b--- for your buck on this project. So much content, and none of it feels like filler. For me, this record was very enjoyable, it hit the jazz, conscious hip-hop spot insanely well. I’d rate this as the second best record in their catalogue, with Below The Heavens, which is a classic in itself, taking the first place. 8/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Oct 27, 2024 Blu & Exile - Miles I'll be honest right away, as much as I respect and appreciate these kind of artists, it's not something I listen to very often. The dude can flow, the writing throughout the album is also very good. Production is very smooth, it's a nice laid back album. But with 20 songs I did get a little bored. However African Dream is a nice change, sounds different than most of the stuff before, love it. The second half I enjoy more in general honestly, it has more diversity in production and its a little more fast paced (if I explain that correctly lol). It's funny how African Dream until To The Fall are also my 5 favorite tracks, and adding Miles Away which is smooth! Nice laid back album but I probably cut the tracklist in half for the second listen. Nice pick @Gimp ! 7/10
Oct 27, 2024 Okay, my pick is a little more mainstream than the last one, but sticking with rap for now. I'm curious how many people actually listened to this. Everyone knows the artist though. Here we go: Ludacris - Theater Of The Mind @RateThisAlbum

Oct 27, 2024 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau I was only able to get one listen in so imma keep it short and sweet. Like most albums with this runtime I think a few tracks could've been cut but overall it's a very full and entertaining listen, I've been on a lot of aggressive music lately so the change of pace was kinda needed. All the writing, flows, production etc barely get any complaints from me, as much as I enjoyed those songs and they're some of my favorites on the album I did think there was one too many "let me just say a bunch of people's names" parts on the record lol. The entire through line of Miles Davis was a cool way to make the album feel more cohesive other than sonically, everyone did their thing and I really enjoyed my time with it. Definitely coming back to a decent chunk of these songs. Favorite Tracks: Blue, True & Livin, The Feeling, Music Is My Everything, Roots Of Blue, The End I also want to say honorable mention to Miguel, bro kills it on every feature he's on. RATING: 8/10
Oct 27, 2024 Blu & Exile - Miles This album is in the same boat as the Atmosphere and Ka (RIP) records as i had heard lots of acclaim for the artist but never checked them out. I did download “Below the Heavens” a few years ago but i never got around to it. Needless to say i was still really excited to finally check a Blu & Exile album out. The production is very jazzy (it’s literally named after Miles Davis so not unexpected) and it was good all throughout. Blu was pretty good too and his lyrics on “Roots of Blue” were my favorites on the album. My only real issue is the length. i usually don’t mind long albums (one of my favorites is nearly 3 hours long) but i definitely felt the runtime by the end. I’m thinking of checking out Below the Heavens soon since it’s super acclaimed too. Overall thanks to @Gimp for the rec and yeah. FAVORITES: True & Living, Miles Davis, Roots of Blue, The American Dream Rating: 7/10 (hot take but i’ve actually relistened to the Atmosphere record and liked it even more. Im a Slug loyalist now) @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
