    you can if they're spreading it like fact on massive platforms when there’s actual proof of how he died. Alex Jones just got annihilated for spreading false information about the manner in which people died.

    i was under the impression that jones repeatedly made his claims and pushed the narrative to the Nth degree?

    I'm a little lost on the gray area, especially when you saw trump spread misinformation as fact d--- near every time he took the podium.

    I think he kinda put himself in a bad situation by not saying “in my opinion” or “it is my belief”

    he said “George Floyd died of fentynol” and proceeded to claim dude’s knee wasn’t on his neck.

    but I don’t know exactly how it works but I feel like by stating it as fact, it can be seen as defaming or damaging.

    Great point, I'm not an expert or anything so I couldn't say for sure but it does seem like a similar issue to the Jones case on some level

    If a cop killed your dad by kneeling on his neck for 10 minutes and Space Monkey said he wasn't really killed by the cop and actually died of a drug overdose... you wouldn't sue him... because he is a loser with no money and no influence.


    But if a billionaire went on a podcast with millions of listeners and said the same thing... then it made the 24 hour news cycle... you would sue... because the billionaire has money to lose and he publicly defamed your murdered father.

    People are really confused about the first amendment... and it's by design that you are being confused.

    Speech is free... but you can pay for your lies.

    The US government didn't lock Alex Jones in jail when he said that the Sandy Hook Massacre was a complete synthetic hoax... or when his on air reporters doxxed the parents of the 6 year-old kids that were ripped to shreds in their classroom... or when his infowarrior zombie listeners harassed the grieving parents by desecrating the children's memorial and pissing on their kids gravestones or constantly calling and messaging the parents and telling them they were going to k--- the parents and dig up the graves of the dead 6 year-olds and not letting up on the parents until they were forced to move multiple times and even commit suicide... the government never stopped Jones once... the government didn't even take Jones' show off of their FCC regulated airwaves when YouTube banned him.

    Defamation and Libel is Civil law... f----- up Right-Wingers want to live in a fantasy world with crises actors and inter-dimensional space demon vampires... well, that's stupid... because they don't exist... but lawyers and judges and juries do.

    1. Most importantly: Kanye shouldn't have lied / expressed his opinion as fact on a platform as public as that. He bragged about the numbers his last Drink Champs interview did, so that man knew what he was doing.
    1a. Do we ever expect Kanye to speak carefully? Probably not - but that's not an excuse as I'm sure he's had DOZENS of managers advise him to handle literally everything differently and he's obviously not about to start doing that at this point in his life.

    2. I think it's fair to ask why isn't Trump sue-able? Or Candace Owens? MTG? People lie about s--- all the time - where is the legal line drawn when it comes to spreading misinformation?

    3. I'd be curious to see how that $250,000,000 figure is justified or where that came from? Did his expression really do - or potentially could have done - $250,000,000 worth of damages?

    Ben Shapiro knows you can't defame the dead (since dead people aren't entitled to a reputation that needs to be protected from slander)... that's why this racist smear job of documentary was made... Floyd's daughter's lawyer is going to have to make the argument that George Floyd's reputation extends to their's which doesn't usually work... it depends on Minnesota State Law or whatever State they can claim to sue Kanye and/or Candace Owens/Daily Wire in... the whole suit will probably be thrown out on merit.

    It's a documentary that appeals to racist sociopaths who can't imagine a cop would ever put their knee on the back of their neck or their parents neck until they died and also don't believe left wing activists like the founders of the BLM movement or Hasan Piker should be allowed to buy a house.



    If George Floyd's family starts getting death threats and general harassment from people associated with Ye and Daily Wire... then that sets up the Alex Jones situation.

    i understand that it's easy to say this and probably more difficult to execute irl, but tbph, i'd like to think that i wouldn't sue just because the person has money to give...that's seemingly just a money grab.

    EDIT: i might make an exception for kanye now that i think about it. He's such a piece of s---. I guess if i think they're a s-----y person, then I would be more capable of going against my morals.

    Like I just said... the Floyd's more than likely don't have a case and it will probably be thrown out... unless Ye fans start harassing them and they have to flee their home or something.


    When Tracy Morgan's tour bus was hit by a semi-truck he sued the company for $100m.

    If the side of the truck said "Steve's Landscaping and Septic Services" Tracy Morgan would have eventually got a few hundred thousands of dollars or low millions of the $100m he was owed.

    But it said Walmart on the side of the truck... so he got $100,000,000 very quick and quietly.
