Apr 10, 2015 I met a little boy that resembled my features Nappy afro, gap in his smile Hand me down sneakers bounced through the crowd Run a number on man and woman that crossed him Sun beamin' on his beady beads exhausted Tossin' footballs with his ashy black ankles Breakin' new laws, mama passed on home trainin' He looked at me and said, "Kendrick you do know my language You just forgot because of what public schools had painted Oh, I forgot, don't k--- my vibe, that's right, you're famous I used to watch on Channel 5, TV was taken But never mind you're here right now don't you mistake it It's just a new trip, take a glimpse at your family's ancestor Make a new list, of everything you thought was progress And that was bs, I mean your life is full of turmoil Spoiled by fantasies of who you are, I feel bad for you I can attempt to enlighten you without frightenin' you If you resist, I'll back off quick, go catch a flight or two But if you pick destiny over rest in peace then be an advocate Tell your homies especially to come back home"
Apr 10, 2015 Mmmm I might have some disappointing news for you guys. Listening again, I think All Day "Remix" might just be a reference track/unfinished version as well. Here's why: -Kendrick randomly interjects in Ye's verse. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to this because it's literally in the middle of a bar (right before the Dikembe part). Ye probably hadn't recorded vocals he liked for that part yet. -There's a part where the vocals stop in the middle of Ye's verse and the instrumental keeps going for a few bars and then it starts up again. -There's a spot where 100% of the sound drops for a moment. -Kanye speaks gibberish right before the All State part—it's just like "kagsdkqgdqk all state with ya." This isn't the final Denzel line either. -Kendrick is talking about chicago and s---—I know, rappers sometimes rep other cities in guest verses, but it sounds like a Ye verse. Listen to the snippet again. -The instrumental is different, but only slightly—probably still tweaking it. -It makes sense that they could both be reference tracks if they're form the same source. Thoughts @Koolo @Mike Tyson ? I'd love to be proven wrong but it's not looking good.
Apr 10, 2015 Word, I just hadn't seen anyone bring it up yet so I thought I'd share. Kendrick's verse is still real nice even if it's meant for Ye, especially flow-wise. I can see why he brought him on to help out.
Apr 10, 2015 Holy s--- this is why Kendrick got a writing credit and everyone was wondering what the f--- was up with that
Apr 10, 2015 I think he was probably a contributing writer, but the BIG part of his credit comes from the flow. I think Kendrick probably helped Ye get it just right for the official version.
Apr 10, 2015 How so? All I can say is I hope if this ever makes it to the public that someone splices together a version with all of ye's verses + the kendrick verse. I might gon do that myself with my amateur-a--- garageband skills.
