UPDATE: V2 continues to be even stranger. Drunk now apparently features Peso Pluma instead of Bad Bunny. Also the 2 other songs are in Low Quality and have mumble. You can’t make this s--- up

Disagree that the songs are noise but based on your taste I'm not surprised it doesn't click with you as much cuz it has jpegmafia beats and the type of s--- carti raps over lol. Cuz I think the production/sound is what does most of the heavy lifting.

Kanye's verses are def almost all horrible and the worst parts of the album, like you know it's over when Rich the Kid is outrapping you tenfold

I actually like Back To Me (the Gibbs joint) in its entirety, I think the Dogma sample is funny in a stupid way and Gibbs renegades the whole album. But yeah in my 2024 rap playlist I think Carnival and Back To Me are the only songs that made the cut

Vultures 2 is way worse but it's such a train wreck (as highlighted in @Yeez post awhile back) it's almost worth listening to just to hear all the lazy/bizarre choices

for a real answer, some of the things I love about him absolutely are his voice and adlibs. it's such fun, energetic music and he has so many flows and different cadences and voices to switch things up all the time, iconic quotable for days you can yell along with people at shows/parties/etc.

like I 10000000% understand why carti isn't for everyone and don't expect everyone to like him cuz a lot of it is experimental rap, but I do think rap fans sometimes miss the forest for the trees when it comes to someone like carti because his music doesn't stringently adhere to people's idea of what rap is/should be. Not saying this is the case for you mm marsh etc but people don't listen to carti for the same reason they listen to GZA or eminem or nas or whoever.

I gotta start participating in album of the week fr so i can make everyone listen to whole lotta red

genuinely no idea what ur talking about lol, he doesn't really have a singular signature adlib but if did it would probably be "what???" or "slatt!"

@Yeez @Ripper Roo Vultures 1 is a very flawed album and I don't love a lot of it but it's the first Kanye album that's felt cohesive and complete from a sonic standpoint in nearly a decade. It felt like the sound and tracklist were purposeful and deliberate even if wasn't necessarily all successful.

Vultures 2 is just devoid of ~anything~ tying it together—no purpose, no vision, no overarching sound, nothing to say, no nothing. It sounds like he picked 16 random files off his computer and put them on shuffle

I kinda agree with Ripper. I know Vultures 1 is pretty unpopular on the forum, but as a Ye fan i thought t was pretty good. The mixing was questionable and Ye’s verses were pretty bad aside from BURN, but I liked the project overall.

Vultures 2 is just embarrassing. It’s honestly really confusing. A lot of the songs that ended up on V2 had better versions previewed literally more than half a year ago (especially River, TMS and My Soul). Every single choice made for this album just makes no sense. The mixing, taking the original V2 cover and deepfrying it, 8 second interludes, having Husband basically appear twice. V2 literally had songs that could’ve outshine most of V1 and they’re replaced for…. this.
At this point I really don’t know if anybody is looking forward to Vultures 3 (which knowing Ye, might just die on the vine)
