Wouldnt surprise me if some reviews come lower than they should because they have a bias towards Kanye after his comments. Most of these music journalists are borderline commie scum

This albums general reception is going to end up like 808's. Misunderstood for a number of years, and then finally recognized and praised down the line.

Lyrics probably. But the music itself has been in the works for awhile. I also think he made more then 7 tracks for his solo, but cut 4-5 beats from the final project.

I honestly think the album was completely different before he made the "slavery was a choice" comment. Im thinking it was going to be more political but they backpedaled after the backlash.

Didnt Charlemagne hear the album and said it was full of "Real Friends" type s--- and that Ye addresses all of his political s---? Thats not what we got, and theres atleast 2 songs on here that are for sure very recent.

I find this album very interesting and enjoy parsing it. Beats are nice. The topics are all over the place (he's bipolar fam so it's deep), but it's good musically speaking. Most of the faults are just with Kanye's beliefs and principles that of course manifest in his lyrics. I don't hate this album. I just engage with it in a very specific, critical way. Still enjoying myself. Reminds me of Hopsin's last album where it was fun to piece together his feelings about women. Of course, Kanye is much more talented and tasteful than Hopsin.

Nah, I'd never heard Valee do anything besides his little hushed whispers, but then again, I've only heard that small tape and that new EP. Not much to go on.

I definitely agree to an extent but I think it's also a good thing at times because it feels very unfiltered. He's expressing himself without fear or much thought and I can appreciate that. I can relate. It I Thought About Killing You and Yikes are good examples. It gives it a raw feeling and sometimes it's more about the energy and emotion than the actual lyrics (at least for me). That said, there are still some very solid quotables throughout the album.

I definitely get what you're saying though... It would be nice if the writing was more polished in areas.

I like the album but I don't think too much more than that either.

Ah, I guess I just assumed you hated it based upon your initial reactions (and there was honestly a point where I felt like I hated the album myself). But that's a very fair stance on it. Also, I can probably guess the basic tenants of Hopsin's views on women but I'd be interested to hear what that was like lol.

But yeah I swear I thought it was some R&B singer cuz I recognized Ty Dolla being layered over him near the end of the chorus.

I think what he's doing over the course of these 20 minutes is a pretty high level kanye west. Idk, I love this

Lol, you've been trying to prod me for a couple of days now. At least this time you're engaging in a discussion of sorts instead of petty insults so I'll entertain the question.

I have no problem with art that isn't built around a concise narrative. In fact, having an album this incoherent and manic makes sense when you consider the condition it's supposed to be driven by / built around. The problem is that most of these tracks don't congeal into anything. They're just disparate ideas slapped together. I'd say the objectively best constructed track is Violent Crime. It has a consistent emotion, a definitive point, it's a journey. It's a very sweet gesture and the collaborators all fulfill meaningful roles.

Yikes, by contrast, has a great chorus that feels like should incorporate verses about his condition in a sobering light, but the verses belong on Yeezus. They're fun. They're careless. It's turn up music. That sober reconciliation never really comes on this. It's a 7 track album... and most of them still don't feel essential. They don't add up to much.

Kanye typically reinvents himself to a degree between projects, and I don't think he did that here. This is the Untitled Unmastered to his TLOP.

It's already been said but kanye definitely cannot make a bad album lol. If he was capable of that, it would have been this one

I highly recommend it. His child/breakup really brought out the red pill/menimist s--- in him. Fascinating.

The pettiness and immaturity of this song says it all lol.

He's a 30 something year old man writing a letter to his child about how his mom is a whor- lol. The fact he got a stripper pregnant after years of talking about girls being superficial hoes and avoiding them... It's a black comedy through and through.
