Jan 17, 2016 nah, like you said most old heads love tpab and understand the praise, as opposed to some new n----s... but I disagree with you about the new generation having access to the same music. They just couldn't experience the same s---, and they probably have never experienced such a sound in music. When I was young, it was the cool thing to listen to nina simone or george clinton and the parliament funkadelic and what we did was to revisit the music that came before. Your generation probably grew up on Dr Dre so you decided to revisit George Clinton. The generation that came after grew up on Dj Mustard and decided to revisit Dr Dre. 20 years from now people won't understand why george clinton was goat, not because he wasn't good but because they're not familiar with what he was doing.
Jan 17, 2016 @Chad Warden Don't forget that TPAB is oozing with BLACK musical excellence. Like I said (just gonna copy paste my previous comment lol) it might've been a dope album if it was straight Hip-Hop but once they dipped into the ideas black musicians have helped to pioneer over the past 100 years. GKMC on the other hand is a lot more accessible as it is more mainstream oriented. But for what they both are, I feel tpab excels a lot more than gkmc. Imo its like comparing illmatic to iww... One is more "pure", the other one is more accessible
Jan 17, 2016 seriously starting to wonder if Drake fans are worse than Eminem fans dafaq is this s---
Jan 17, 2016 I have no problem with funk or soul music, rap is pretty much black music by default anyway, it's not a problem for me. Sure, the commercial appeal of GKMC may give you the impression that the diehard fans of that album aren't as likely to look into things as in-depth to you, but that simply is not the case. TPAB may be more complicated, more..I don't know, experimental, it's not a bad thing that the simpler approach (GKMC was a bit better overall) It's not as if I think TPAB is trash.
