It makes kinda sense when you think about it, but I still think it's a reach. It's rather coincidental in my opinion.

I agree 100%. It's about freeing yourself from mental slavery.

When Kendrick says this I believe he's telling people to become more enlightened, think for themselves and be more innovative and creative just like the Ancient Egyptians.

I took it as build your own music without external influence

I suppose this message could also apply to musicians too. He could be persuading musicians to become more independent and innovative with their music creating process. However, I think that it also applies to all people in general, in all professions and all walks of life.

    you're probably right

interesting article I found on 2dopeboyz a few months ago:

"The seeds of Kendrick Lamar motivation to collaborate with George Clinton, Lalah Hathaway and Ronald Isley were planted well before GKMC dropped. "

I mean, every kendrick fan knows tpab was supposed to be next after section 80... but he said he was just waiting because he wasn't ready.

Well s80 was about showing your vulnerability and working off of it to become a better person, which is similar to TPAB, but tpab focuses more on the journey of introspection, while s80 focuses more on the initial vulnerability and works on that, so i think it's just a coincidence,

But both albums have a similar theme...

with that being said, I don't know if there was a connection between hiiipower and tpab, but kendrick himself said tpab was planned years ago.

yeah he planned gkmc years ago, but sonically, one could argue that gkmc wasn't supposed to sound like that.

And that 2dbz article is 100% on point. Even TDE said he described Kendrick's mind perfectly.

    Correct.

He even said he made gkmc a lil bit more mainstream as it was his major debut, his introduction to the masses.

yeah I know that. That's why gkmc surprised me a lot because thats not what you would have expected from Kendrick. Kendrick tried to find himself as an artist and then he was always about that funky/jazz influence in hip hop.

I don't know about the hiiipower song but I'm confident he had tpab in mind long before gkmc.
