Mar 18, 2015 Although I think it might be a little early, I think it's fair to compare Kendrick to some of the best. Makes for some great discussion. I'd easily give it to Nas, but I have no doubt in my mind that Kendrick will eventually surpass some of the GOATs. Nas has consistently put out some of my favorite music my entire life and it feels like Kendrick came into my life around the time I started high school, so he's got awhile to go.
Mar 18, 2015 Of course Nas hasn't topped Illmatic. You can't top perfection. You can only match it, but making one perfect album is hard enough as it is. Kendrick has not made a perfect album yet, so no... the comparison isn't apt.
Mar 18, 2015 Anyway, Illmatic -> most boring c"lassic" of all time, k-dot's better already. I know it goes against the general consensus regarding this album, but, let's be real. Keep in mind that Illmatic even has 9+1 (even though that 1 is an intro) tracks and tpab 16, and the former bores me to sleep. My hhonest opinion, nothing more
Mar 18, 2015 That's irrelevant. You don't take points away from Illmatic because it doesn't have as many tracks as an album released 20 years later. You judge them based on their musical quality. Not the quantity. Illmatic is perfect. TPAB is not. Period, end of discussion.
Mar 18, 2015 Its okay, i like a lot Illmatic dont get me wrong but adults should understand that a kid like me watching the impact and release of TPAB its almost exactly like when when they where younger and witnessed Nas debut. I respect the classics but the impact in me is just a lot higher. The thing is that is harder doing a perfect record when you got so many tracks, Kendrick literally doesnt have a skit on the album. If that's the case we need to put the best tracks of TPAB Vs. Illmatic
Mar 18, 2015 You're arguing semantics. The album having 16 tracks doesn't make it imperfect. It's imperfect based on the music.
