Since 2018, fans have been anticipating the release of Kendrick Lamar’s biography, The Butterfly Effect, which will detail the Compton rapper’s rise to fame. It will now arrive on October 13.

Marcus J Moore, Senior Editor, and Pitchfork contributor shared the news with Pigeons and Planes stating, “My book details the artist’s coming of age as an MC, how he helped resurrect two languishing genres (bebop and jazz), his profound impact on a racially fraught America, and his emergence as the bonafide King of Rap.”

Although it is unclear, whether or not the book with include reflections from Kendrick himself, it is clear that it will feature interviews from people who knew Lamar during his childhood.

“Having covered Lamar’s music over the years, I’m always fascinated by the sheer gravity of his work,” Moore said. “He’s an iconic musician, and someone who truly appreciates the foundation of black art, using it as a vehicle to shed light on his community. He’s never forgotten where he’s come from and I think that’s honorable.”

Some may think it’s too soon for the rapper to have a biography. However, Kendrick has made a lot of accomplishments during his time as a musician. In the last two years, Kendrick has dropped his platinum-selling album titled, d---, also taking home four Grammy’s for the album. Kendrick has also executive produced the number one soundtrack for Marvel’s “Black Panther.”

Kendrick was also the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the Pulitzer Prize for music. “It details how his story directly connects to the charged spirits of art and revolution. Ultimately, the biography explores the broad global impact of Mr. Lamar and his work,” Moore said.

The biography is set to release on October 13th.

It’s been rumored that it’s been finished for awhile.... it’ll probably drop before since he has a tour then.

To be fair he's been around since mid-late-2000s and has had a fascinating story thus far to tell. Definitely not too early at all.
