Alright so here's my totally unrealistic theory as to what Kendrick & TDE/Black Hippy could be up to right now in my wildest dreams:
We know Kendrick's album is basically complete.
We know Jay Rock's album is just about finished.
We know Ab-Soul's Longterm 3 is coming soon, and that he stated on twitter that he turned in 2 complete projects at the beginning of 2014. One of these was most likely These Days, one could be Longterm 3.
Q has said his plan is to release a new album this year, and has recently retweeted fans speculating on his plans to drop something soon. There was almost exactly a year's time between Setbacks and H&C, so not totally an unreasonable timeline.
In lieu of a Black Hippy LP, is there a possibility we could get 4 solo albums dropping at the same time? In a mainly digital market place, this kind of release strategy would not necessarily be a poor decision, especially if they plan a Black Hippy tour promoting everyone together w/ Kendrick headlining, as tours/merch is where artists make the majority of their money now. This would be one explanation for Kendrick's decision to promote Jay Rock--the only black hippy member to not ride the GKMC wave with a solo record--on SNL as opposed to premiering a new song or play an GKMC track.

I'm back to being patient. I've been listening to older TDE releases I had missed in the past as preparation...Probably wouldn't have picked up Control System if Kendrick's album dropped by now. My new fav after GKMC. -

kendrick said it himself he only makes music when his in the right mindset and when he thinks he can say something - I think it's not making the album that takes long, it does, but it's the life experience that takes long. kendrick definitely took a break from music after GKMC a little bit and experienced life, he experienced the fruits of his success, a new rising fanbase, new pressures, etc. and all these new experiences definitely helped him and prompted him to go back into the studio and say and make something new
kendrick's been making quality cohesive projects since kendrick lamar EP so as fans we gotta get used to the fact that he makes albums; no mixtapes; not throwaways; but cohesive projects that have themes and narratives and a general purpose to themLast edited: Jan 5, 2015Meero, WestSideboi and RetiredAccount like this. -

put's new meaning to a majority of the lyrics too:
like his past tense references to himself in Gorgeous
all of POWER:
"So goodnight, cruel world, I’ll see you in the morning
Huh? I’ll see you in the morning
This is way too much, I need a moment"
"I was drinking earlier, now I’m driving"
"Now this will be a beautiful death"
Fergies verse about depression in All of the Lights, which as I mentioned before refers to the POWER lyric "My inner child/I'm fighting for custody"
Monster lyrics:
"The best living or dead hands down, huh"
"I'm living in the future so the present is my past
My presence is a present, kiss my a---"
plus the Intro "Are you willing to sacrifice your life"
and Outro "I crossed the line
And I'll let God decide"
Swizz's bridge in So Appalled:
"Life can be sometimes ridiculous"
His fights with Amber as documented IN DIAND chronicle his depression.
Runaway works perfectly in this context
h--- of a Life documents his love for then taken Kim, further chronicling his depression
Blame Game again chronicling his depression
The skit and song being towards the end of the album isn't coincidental. The skit would have comedically showed people why a now dead Yeezy should have been appreciated.
Lost in the world, his poem for taken Kim, epitomizes his depression at the time.
Who Will Survive in America? NOT KANYE! (That was probably supposed to function as dark humor)
and then he would have ended it with Never See Me Again, which is full of suicide metaphors and clearly was supposed to be the last track he ever released -
