I mean, you clearly don't like the sound, which again, is fine. But your specific criticisms are bs and you have yet to defend them correctly. Plus its clear you can't relate to pro-black commentary which is a heavy theme in this album, so you say you don't "get" the politics. You're not actually listening.

2 full listens and I love the production here (everyone involved in that regard outdid themselves) but I really don't like Kendrick much on this. I love the idea of jumping between different genres of "black music", and the production nailed the aesthetics for me, but man I was having a hard time listening to Kendrick try and be funky.. Also, do people really like the whole "THIS d-ck AIN'T FREE" bit? I've seen so many people on here and on twitter quoting it, and it made me cringe tbh.

Also, I don't care if the new version of "i" fits the story/theme of the album or whatever, it sounds incredibly s-----y compared to the single version. And the single wasn't straight fire to begin with.

How Much a Dollar Cost is arguably the best song on the album.

Kanye Stans can turn a simple b-----r to a lyrically complex and innovative track about subject matters like the political and social aspects of the planet and the manifestation of the New Slaves phenomenon.

    lmao

Kendrick's profile became huge after GKMC. He was talked about prior, but lets not pretend he was a household name. Plus you hated Section.80 for the longest time.

And you decade list had enough contradictions that we can write that off tbh

This is likely the most creative mainstream album in the last few years, but you hate it.

In other words, while everyone LOVED the blacker the berry, you sat back and wrote an ok review, focusing too heavily on the politics of it.

Straw man. I'm not expecting 10/10 from you, but calling this even a bad album is such a stretch.

i wrote that. do you need me to connect dots for you?

rofl. i understand the politics perfectly. and for the record i think it's commendable kendrick is making such a culturally and historically engaged album when he has such a massive platform. but that doesn't make the record good and it doesn't mean he has a coherent message beyond a C+ high school english class poem.

sure, but i'm a rap critic. kendrick was a huge part of hip-hop.

this is a lie. (for the record, this wouldn't invalidate my opinion on the new album if it were true--but it's not.)

    i stand by it

    lololol

no, i was very effusive about how good it was. smh @ you, the notorious social conservative, defending a militantly pro-black album then saying i was "focusing too heavily on the politics" of one of its songs. if you ignore kendrick's politics on this album you're a f---ing moron.

    Nah you should in general.

A comment lifted in reply to your "article"
Article fails to explain why All Day is on the same level of modern classic MBDTF, or even the brooding minimalism of Yeezus. Bold thesis, little backup.

You seem to do this a lot judging on your posts here.

Was very disappointed when I first heard it and honestly I was excited to hear a more jazz themed record. That d--- song from Colbert report should of made the cut. It's grown on me tremendously but i still prefer GKMC.

that was by captain awesome, lol. sorry i didn't give an itemized list of each song it surpasses.

if you don't think one of the most famous black men in the world saying "n-----" fifty times on a song with a beatle is political, you're a bumbling idiot. or the hook. or the farrakhan bars. or any number of other things in the song that you're writing off as braggadocio.

Section.80 is my favorite kendrick album so that's fine.

Time will have to tell if I end up preferring TPAB
