Well, I think its fantastic because the production is literally without fault, it's extremely cohesive, and makes for a cinematic listen front to back

Kendrick was almost secondary at first.

And now, with evey listen, he's starting to standout a lot more. His rapping/writing is as great as it's ever been for the most part, and he does SO much with it rather than go down the same lane as GKMC.

institutionalized, u, hood politics, i, etc they all showcase so many different styles, and do so extremely well for the most part.

And THEN there are the various themes/concepts/commentary/narrative at play

I honesty don't see where your complaints are stemming from, other than a gut reaction to hating this direction.

Like what's there to fault about "alright?"

    Or momma?

    Or Wesley's theory?

Or how much a dollar cost?

Im honestly f---ing blown away at how perfect this album is. Its cliche as f--- but it grows on you like wildfire.
Absolutely astonished that he topped GKMC given the pressure, did what Nas could never do.
    GREATEST OF ALL TIME.

Considering your other points in that post aren't really arguments, I'll just focus on this last part, because you seem to think that just because I don't hold all the views of an artist, I cant appreciate how he weaves his politics into incredible song construction.

Im not saying ignore the politics, but you always put way too much stock in certain parts of a song or album in order to justify your "different" opinions.

I love this album. I'm not totally sold on all the songs (yet), but it's pretty clear that he's expressing his views in a unique enough way that we should give credit to his creativity. You're saying his writing is the equvilent to a C+ English class poem? That writing career of yours is on shaky ground my friend.

Overall the actual rapping itself may have trouble being as prominent as the message or beat, but that doesn't make it bad. He's an extremely talented writer. FACT.

I listened to all 3 of Kendrick's albums yesterday.

    GKMC > Section.80 > TPAB

    All great though.

The messages in Hood Politics, How Much a Dollar Cost, Complexion and Blacker the Berry alone are each 100% more political than All Day n----- and you know this.

It's not as good as gkmc (less catchy, for sure), but I'm not there on quality. Ironically, from Taylor Swift or this general response, seeing white fans/mainstream embrace is a little curious, given the album's subject matter. Kendrick's posturing, and subsequent success, kind of paints him into a corner, imo. He can't do this again.

fourfiveseconds isn't going to be on the album, so who cares if you hate it? it's a throwaway/feature, essentially...

Yes, heard that. Got it. Doesn't mean your response/stance toward eminem isn't kneejerk. He's bad, but regardless

tone is everything, m8. Have a more conciliatory tone and ppl wont seethe as much, u know that. And you write for Rolling Stone -- rly, who gives a s---? lol

    Never.

Offhand, uninformed is bad, misinformed is worse.

Regardless, I think your reaction to the album is a) a gross overstatement regarding its badness, and b) def a reaction to most of the music worlds positive response. That's where I sense elitism

see above, i'm not talking ideological elitism. its not a question of preference.

Again, I don't mean to give you a hard time, altho I do enjoy that you are engaged and can have a discussion without some s-----y gif response. stay humble as you grow, bruh. final thought: my jedi sense tells me you begrudgingly call GKMC a classic, because not doing so would raise too many eyebrows, at least with the "casual" rap listener. opinions can be certainly politically motivated - few are immune, even critics. myself included

fair, generally why i stay listening

    It's definitely political as well

But why the f--- is All Day and other s--- being brought up

@WPG is one of the few people who've hated his album that I actually think has good taste/explain himself so all I want is legitimate criticsms for this album

    That's all

The secret to arguing with @WPG is keeping your sentences shorter than his sentences until you're both arguing with single letters

How it does it sound s-----y? It's him returning home and performing in the streets of Compton, and the mixing sounds like that

It's also more aggressive, the hooks better, etc..

Also "the d-ck ain't free" could be a turn off, if it wasnt for the incrediby engaging free form, dare I say jazz inspired, rapping throughout

It's a great track, especially for an interview
