I gotta say Mortal Man was pretty eerie & depressing as he warns us that he will get setup and attacked and he is pleading with his fans & listeners not to abandon him & leave him out to dry like they've done to so many others in our recent history. He's saying that we want change so bad and we ask for leaders to guide us and spread the right message but every time we finally get one of them we never have their backs enough and his surreal foreshadowing/consciousness of this is pretty frightening. To me, at the end, he finally lets the listener realize that he himself realizes he's putting himself, metaphorically, on the cross for us (or atleast his people but I think this is more than just a Compton or black thing) and that his life and reputation and everything he's built is really in our hands and we have the authority/power to see his vision through. One of the only tracks where I really have ever felt like I was directly being spoken to and implored to action (whenever that time comes). And at the end when he's calling for Pac to get his guidance & there's no answer I think that symbolizes he's all alone on how to handle such a daunting task of leading a generation to make a leap within' a relatively short amount of time. Great way to end this album b/c it gives an internal dilemma inside a man we look to as a leader for a movement & we are left contemplating and thinking about his goals/objectives & how we can all be apart of it to find the answers. This album wouldn't be right if he provided us a solution at the end. Anyway that's just one interpretation and it's just from the top of my head. Really can't wait till I get some time away from these exams to hit the books on this s--- and write up my complete thoughts on this artwork.
