are you serious? you honestly believe this is how people think? i think you're probably wrong that kendrick is more globally recognized than kanye, but this isn't pro wrestling. i don't "see rappers as a threat" because i'm not 13 years old. listen to the music and stop playing this weird f---ing horserace identity politics. jesus christ, you people.

even people who like this wretched album HAVE to admit that it's kinda corny to, you know, pretend to interview tupac. if you think it's not, or that it's in good taste, you probably really enjoy dane cook.

It could've been detrimentally corny to have the pac interview but instead it came off as natural, and could even be considered as earned pointedness after the internal struggle kendrick displayed throughout the entire record

So I don't see what's horrible about it, let alone even bad

He likely pulled it off better than most, but still ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh lilcorny.

Couldn't get through Fantano's video - would prefer seeing @WPG shave his head and start acting out fake Seinfeld episodes about how much he hates the album

The simplest way I can put it is that the outro to the album was earned. And you can either buy into that belief or not tbh

I think kendricks one of he most prominent rappers in the game, and he went ahead made a sharp left turn instead of going down the lane opened up by GKMC's reception

But even then, he manages to make topical/political conversations into somehog wholly personal first and foremost. And that narrative about a young black man coming to terms with himself, his success, and this society, earned him the right to be that pointed at the end.

He didn't "invoke pac as a prophet" he was telling people to get their s--- together and wipe -- there's still work to be done

And he's just a mortal man, a hypocrite, so is pac, so is Obama, so is Mandela, etc etc. But it's the effort and having the right ideology that matters -- that's be final take away for me

I understand that it's a way to pay homage to Pac, and to show that his views in politics remain relevant, even now. I also agree that it's a way to seek guidance (as he cries "Pac!" in the very end of the album), but it's more than that. Kendrick has been hailed as the saviour of rap for years, even before GKMC, and he's been rapping about sociopolitical phenomena for even longer than that. Even in this interview, the questions he asks lead to answers that he himself has already given in previous songs (and even previous albums).

He's obviously been looking up to Tupac (the last words in Section 80 were "Thug life"), and now that he has a wider stage to perform, he tries to adress these same topics through music, instead of going for a less "conscious" approach after GKMC.

You're right, Kendrick isn't anywhere near Kanye in terms of popularity in Europe.

Yeah Hip Hop is still competitive Im sure there was Kanye's stans who before the album was released already wanted to hate on it as with the albums being released near each other there is a bit of a rivalry between Kendrick & Kanye stans imo.

Yeah maybe it is a little corny to interview Pac but as some others have said I don't he done it as a way to say he was Pac's successor.
I think it was paying homage & in the interview I think he is looking for guidance from Pac.

Okay, lets retire the phrase "sharp left turn" in describing the new Kendrick album, guys.
