My least fave song is the "i" live version. If the single version of i was on the album my least fave song would be institutionalized.

TPAB without mortal man would be s---

i don't even mean the interview, just the song itself, is f---ing glorious and needed within context of the album

you pretty much have the black pride part of the album and then the other part is kendricks journey into the rap game/fame

not having mortal man on the album would hurt the rap game/fame part so much

    it's essentially hiiipower pt 2

mortal man is like his confession to the world that the machine known as the man, isn't going to like his message and he knows it

the way he ends it with

How many leaders you said you needed then left ‘em for dead?
Is it Moses, is it Huey Newton or Detroit Red?
Is it Martin Luther, JFK, shooter you assassin
Is it Jackie, is it Jesse, oh I know, it’s Michael Jackson, oh

then the hook comes and you can hear his voice cracking..

whole song makes me think of katt williams and how he would say some real s--- at his concerts yet they shut him down and made him look crazy..

Of course you wouldn't catch that.

"If I ever wasn't the greatest n----- I must have missed it"

He was so sloppy with that line. End of verse 2.

"I" not only concludes the personal narrative (with the protagonist returning home, changed) but also touches on that "black pride" you're talking about with the negus skit

Mortal man's hook is pretty lazy. The verses are great. The pac interview is probably too much.

As a whole, it's not really as necessary as you're making it seem -- "I" wouldve been perfect

Other people share my opinions. I believe that i and insitutionalized are actually most people's least fave records. I still love institutionalized.

i completely agree with ending on i and negus as that would end the album just fine

except that for kendrick himself, he needs mortal man as his proof on wax to his peers

not having a song where he says the government might k--- him would be a mistake because if his goal is to truly be a leader, it needs to be said

if anything it kinda doesn't fit on the album , but thats why it needs to be there.. it's his personal "I'm taking one for the team, look at me"

btw the hook is classic as f--- , i thought it was lazy too until i digested the song and realized the purpose it serves

when it comes down to it, when kendrick is no longer the hottest commodity, when they start rumors and tear down his career, will you remember ?

anyone questioning the hook needs to understand kendrick and his quest to be a leader

all the greats, all the people that have truly looked to God and openly praise him, are shut down in the industry
people that "open our eyes", are tore down
michael jackson was tore down after openly becoming sunni muslim and islamic

the ones that question our political leaders and government/ capitalism, torn down
eminem was tore down for directing his lyrics toward the white house and government, toward the end of his career, that's what he rapped about all the time, since his return he hasn't said a single line about it or guns or anything real

hollywood does not like that type of s---

(this is where i start talking about hidden agendas, f---in illuminati s---)

if something happens to kendrick , we would all know because of this song, it's another example of him keeping it as simple as possible while keeping the point blatant as possible

i personally think some type of news about his family/friends or girlfriend is gonna come out as a warning to him, school boy q finna die or something

The first verse in Wesley's Theory is soooo good.

When I get signed homie imma buy a strap, straight from the CIA, set it on my lap, take a few M-16's to the hood, pass em' all out on the block, what's good?
