Really though? Explaining it word for word is literally the definition of removing the "mystique" lol

I definitely agree that it makes the album accessible -- and that's actually probably the reasoning behind a lot of the dumbed down writing at times.

I 100% think the discussion that you think is "everyone and their mother coming up with stupid explanations" is >>>> telling us what it means.

If he wanted this to be like iconic "literature" in black culture -- then do what all the great novels do...let the audience decipher the project themselves.

I don't dislike it m8, i think it does a great job of reflecting current racial tensions and being hauntingly prevalent over 15 years after it was initially recorded.

I just dont think it's necessary.

Like, the album could've gotten across the same major themes and messages without mortal man existing.

And you can't deny its a bit gimmicky (not that being "gimmicky" stops it from being executed well)

It's a gimmick. But I cut it some slack because of the reasons you mentioned, for sure.

Like I said, I like the track (even my least favorite track on TPAB is something I like/wouldnt skip).

But at 12 minutes, i really wish it didn't exist as the album closer lol

talking just in pure terms of the album being even better than it currently is

Let me rephrase. He elaborates enough, that he sets up the boundaries for reasonable interpretation. The album is still very cryptic at times, and that's what he's going for. He's striking a balance that leans strongly on interpretation, but not to the point where he leaves us in total confusion. Great novels, again, are open to much interpretation, but still have a narrative within that can be dissected and understood (Unless we're talking about postmodernist literary criticism, which academia as a whole is quite divided on).

There is literally no other place where this interview would work besides the end. The interview with Pac is the meta-narrative that takes place above the realm of the album. Each song helps construct the poem that he eventually finishes and presents to Pac for input. Because it ties in so perfectly with everything surrounding the album, it just can't be considered gimmicky.

you know somethings wrong when f---ing NARSH hasn't giving out ratings for a single song, let alone the entire project. This album deserves more time and more attention before slapping a number or label on it.

Ali is definitely an amazing engineer. Here's a very dope interview with him in it. A lot of the jargon and referencing they are making had me doing my own research so I can understand lol. It's lengthy, but it's a good interview showing the humble MixedByAli

because this statement is 1) false and 2) the actual quality of the album (and all that there is to love and praise about it) will get lost in the mix

With how much you love the album, is that something you really want? Wouldn't you rather keep talking about what you love about the album, rather than the critical reception?

Wouldn't you rather the highlight of the album standout, rather than have them be overshadowed by pointless discussions about ratings?

Wouldn't you rather have good posters like @Brubbles and @Swizz (who both like the album) joining in and adding their 2 cents about what they love, rather than having them sit in the corner and roll their eyes, or join in just to be contrarian and balance out your/others focus on the critics ratings?

There's definitely a place to discuss the album's reception, obviously, but I feel like we've done enough of that. lets stop it.
