Overly dedicated got me into kdot, S80 and GKMC didn't leave my rotation for months after. TPAB is great, but I'm already losing interest in some songs which didn't happen for me on his previous two albums

One thing To p---- A Butterfly has done is inspire me to listen to OD/S80/GKMC multiple times this week [more than TPAB].

    Really re-appreciating Kendrick. Especially Section.80.

nope ive received two separate calls/text rants from friends who are in LOVE with this album lol. more than me.

if anything, everyone i know in public is a lot less critical than people on line. they either think its weird out the gate, and like it after a few listens, or think its amazing right off the bat

only vocal critics off the album ive seen are online. and even then its like a total of 6 people

i feel bad for those 6 people not enjoying this album :laff:

320k first week 100k second week are great numbers for a hip hop artist with little crossover appeal. who is selling more than him? Kanye, Jay-Z, Drake, Eminem? Maybe Lil Wayne when he comes out?

These are household names who had huge radio singles and long careers. They get played on Top 40 Radio stations. If you were expecting Kendrick to do huge numbers, you were bound to be disappointed

400K-plus in ten or so days is hardly something to scoff at. these are really good numbers, especially in 2015, especially without a true hit single.

I absolutely love U but i can't help but feel like it finishes too abruptly. I'm assuming he didn't want to prolong the darker, depressing vibes for too long which is why it transitions straight into Alright. I would have liked if the beat on U was given a chance to breathe by itself before the track ended as the song was so hard-hitting and honest but oh well. I can see what he was going for.

Strange..... I don't think it ended abruptly at all. The final bar is very hard hitting and pretty much closes in on all the criticism he was giving himself.

And if I told your secrets, the world'll know money can't stop a suicidal weakness

g.d., institutionalized has grown on me so much.. initially i thought it was a pretty good song, now its one of the best on the album

also i definitely prefer the single version of i and enjoy it a lot more after hearing u. the live performance is cool for the listening experience if im listening to the full album though

I decided to put GKMC on my ipod today. Listening through it, d---. I knew it was great but never really listened to it over the last 2 years. It's very good, tough to choose between it and TPAB. 2 different albums it seems in all honesty.

What's so weird about that if you love all three albums? How do you rank them?

    For me it's

    GKMC > Section 80 > TPAB

At the moment it's GKMC = TPAB > Sec80, but I think as far as that post is concerned, I misunderstood @Jay Daniels 's post to mean that he thought sec80 wasn't enjoyable -- not that he would just rate it below the other projects
