Earlier this year, a New Jersey school teacher at High Tech High usedKendrick Lamar's lyrics to inspire the students in his classroom, and now his lyrics are being used to help send high school students to college. Philadelphia hip-hop site oogeewowee.com has created the "Be Alright" scholarship, which rewards the winning student from High Tech with $1500 towards college.

The site's content director, Wilkine Brutus, told Pigeons & Planes that they "always wanted to create a hip-hop inspired scholarship—a tangible contribution to the culture." Prospective students enter by sending in a 2-3 minute video that "[explains] the positive aspects of hip-hop and showcasing their own individual talents" according to Brutus. The videos can be voted on through their Facebook page, where the winner will be decided.

Kendrick and TDE have not commented on the scholarship, but the organizers have reached out and hope to hear more from them soon.
