Oct 11, 2016 All the songs are objectively great, except maybe untitled 7 which was too long, only reason why it only got 86/100 on metacritic. Aside from that particular moment, it was probably one of the most diverse rap projects we have heard in years, giving music for everybody, specially old heads and fans of good rap music. You got tracks with the perfect blend of contemporary rap production and jazz, the psychadelic trap influenced song, the typical RZA stuff, the funkadelik influenced stuff, they were even exploring some brown music on here. It's crazy how there's almost no flaw on this s---, crazy to think it's a bunch of unfinished songs. You saw the album #1 on a lot of mid year lists, and you can definitely expect it to stay in that top 3.
Oct 11, 2016 yeah, it's sad that critics decided to underate it... some of them said they were rating it as a full finished & mastered projects...which resulted in the album getting a 86/100 on metacritic instead of a well deserved 92-93/100
Oct 11, 2016 tbh UU grew on me like crazy, it has become one of my favorite projects by kendrick and I only like 30% of his songs.
Oct 11, 2016 I think some people don't realize UU was SCRAPS. They were unfinished scraps and they still sounded like complete bodies of work.
Oct 11, 2016 It really was, I mean if I agree with that statement and if critics, musicians and profesionnals agree with me, then there's no denying that UU is great/classic. usually those who say it's bad just talk about their taste, I have yet to meet a rap listener with vast knowledge saying that UU wasn't at least GREAT. Like you can dislike it if you want, but if you say it's not great then you're pretty much exposing yourself as a edgy or ignorant listener.
Oct 11, 2016 i dont think ive listened to UU since the day it was released and im perfectly okay with it staying that way
Oct 11, 2016 Untitled is lowkey kendrick's best project, actually it's the only project where he ain't limited by a concept or a storyline
Oct 11, 2016 i'm hoping the structure of his next album is a little more loose like section 80. he's extremely creative and probably the most talented rapper alive, but i feel like he boxed himself into a corner with the forced concept of tpab. i just want him to spit again tbh.
Oct 11, 2016 This. Everybody talking about how Tpab & gkmc are kendrick's best albums, U.U. and section 80 are a lot more enjoyable to me. Despite not being a fan of jazz which can make this kind of music more of an effort to get through (for those who ain't familiar with it), I found it to be easy listening music and it was nice to see kendrick having fun like that. I'd take UU over all his other projects any day of the week. I'm not saying tpab and gkmc aren't amazing, but uu/s80 are easier to listen to for me
Oct 12, 2016 I think he will have more of a funk sound on his next album, closely resembling that of 'King Kunta' and a heavy George Clinton influence. he will find a way to put jazz in there too as I think he really enjoys the sound since it's been in just about every album he's released since Section.80 and LMAO @ ppl hating on the black history references Kendrick put in TPAB...he literally was trying to educate his listeners on as much black history as he could possibly do in a song or on an album. In a way that young listener would understand and older listeners would appreciate. To achieve that type of balance is amazing.
Oct 12, 2016 I only liked gkmc on first listen, now the only songs I play are sing about me and peer pressure
