But...there's no grounds to do it? Like, Stern shouldn't have blocked Chris Paul to L.A., Silver shouldn't block Durant to Oakland. The Warriors have two of their three best players on friendly contracts, and they're cutting a starter loose. I'm no fan of them but they've done it properly.

Sure technically there's no grounds to do it, its just a terrible look for the league as a whole.

I know, I'd like to have seen another year with that OKC core (esp. post-Ibaka trade) but...the Warriors lost to the Cavs, and they almost lost to the Thunder. This by no means assures a championship. Plus, all it really does is accelerate the OKC fall by a year--there's no way Russ was ever going to stay, even if Durant signed long-term.

Pending injuries, this is about as close of a guarantee as you can have.

Nothing is guaranteed in competitve sport.
I assume that goes for basketball as well.

We don't know that. They're certainly the odds-on favorite, but there are still questions: how long will it take for Green and Durant to figure out how to fill the gaping hole inside; does Klay become an afterthought? Where are his touches? I wouldn't put money on anyone to beat them but I think it'll be tough.
Oh f--- off. This is such a stupid attitude.

Like I said, it's about as close as you can get to a guarantee, but not fully. The Warriors already won 73 games last year and were a Kyrie Irving miracle 3 away from winning it all. If Curry doesn't s--- it up, they more than likely win the finals in 5-6 games. Adding KD will be insane.

the greatest club side in the history of football coming off thier biggest unbeaten streak ever and a previous season of 5 tophies suddenly lost 5 games in a row to clearly inferior teams near the end of the season. Anything is possible mate, don't get cocky.

They almost lost to the Thunder and lost to the Cavs, then added a top 3 player in the game. If you were to put a bet on the field winning next year (outside Golden State and Cleveland) it might pay 100-1.

I get how you guys who are just NBA fans and don't really have teams aren't as effected by this (seeing all those guys on the same team must sound awesome), but for the rest of us (minus the Cavs fans) it kinda takes the fun away. What are we really left to root for? progress and development of our younger players?

Its tough to tell yourself "well we're only 3 superstars away from competing with the Warriors". I'm over here hyped that my team signed Al freakin Horford yesterday smh...

You can't really compare that to KD and the Warriors. But once again, I agree that anything is possible, but don't kid yourself, the Warriors are now a mega-dynasty.
They already play a ton of small ball, but the fact that they aren't gonna get Bogut or Ezeli back is clearly a concern. Green is a h--- of a rim protector and KD averages 8 boards per game, so I don't think it's the end of the world. The only ting I would say about that is that a bunch of guys are gonna be willing to take the vets minimum to play for that team and get a chance at a ring. They shouldn't have a terrible time finding a solid center. I think the chemistry will be a lot easier to figure out than it was for LeBron in Miami. KD is the perfect Warriors player. Great 3 point shooter and he's gonna get a ridiculous amount of quality looks. There will obviously be bumps in the road and media is gonna try to rip this team apart, but KD is probably the most seamless fit they could've signed.

Was just going to bring this up. Stern blocked this trade to keep the league "balanced." Now look at it. Smh. That blocked trade cost Kobe another opportunity at a ring tbh.
