Em doesn’t pander his writing on the pop songs, he does lean into the pop sound though occasionally.

Drake makes songs like Tootsie Slide, Passionfruit, In My Feelings, Nice For What, One Dance, Take Care, Hotline Bling etc etc. I’d be here all day if I continued. Point is, Drake makes songs aiming for charts, trends & majority audiences, no matter the consequences of integrity, he’s had ghostwriters at certain points for example, so that’s why they’re held to different standards.

I'd argue that the more obvious he made it the less serious it was. On sslp they said he used the word "fa----" and "b----" too much(not to mention the 97 bonnie and clyde thing) - so on mmlp he doubled down "I am whatever you say I am" - people forget that was the point of that album - he was purposely doubling down on misogyny, homophobia and whatever else they accused him of being to the point of absurdity -problem is the redneck fans that go "yeah man I hear what you're saying, f--- fa----s"...and the morons who listen for buzz words and go "he said the bad thing so that means he means the bad things cuz it's so obvious/serious when he says bad things....derrrrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuughhhhhhhhI'm a f---in moron"...thats what they say

As for his excuses back then, It's a cop out it felt like a cop out when he said it back then and still is he did it to make it smarter than it really was and deflect any kind of criticism towards his music "it's just a satire bruh". The thing is there is always some truth in a satire and he admitted many times that he meant many things he said in his music. Kim even slit her wrists over his music you dumbfuck. To be fair he used the fa---- slur aiming at Tyler for less of a derogatory insult than usual unless you only look at the shock value of the surface level aspect of it.

The wordplay stating that Tyler’s whole come up with Odd Future was copying D12’s style & format, then later insulting Eminem’s music deeming that as a sacrilegious attack if he’s responsible for part of your success (sack religious - worship D12’s balls - recent news of Tyler coming out)

Pretty clever diss to be honest. More so because he knew Tyler wouldn’t give a f--- about the slur, he backtracked once other people that the insult wasn’t directed to got offended (as per) which is kind of confusing to me, because I thought that’s what it was intended to do in the first place.

It might’ve been a PR play by Paul/Shady Records, who knows.
