Oct 7, 2015 I would even go as far to say its better than most of them. Raw emotion and and actual content.. Its actually personal af
Oct 7, 2015 yeah but at the time he was 30+. like 90% of the people have lost someone really close by the time they are 30-40. its just how life goes. i think drugs really put him down. Whenever the convo about Em's rehab and addiction comes around, I wonder why all the people around him let him go that much deep into it. Dr. Dre, 50, Paul, the whole D12, Obie and so on. Around Em so many people managed to get famous or get recognition and nobody saw it or helped him. Like when Encore was put together and about to be released how come nobody saw the tremendous change in him. How come Dre didn't see that something is extremely wrong or out of the hand. If someone goes from TES to singing about his d-ck in all the 3/4 of the songs something strange must be going on. How Encore was released is also beyond me. Why didn't they scratch it like they later did with King Mathers. I think most people just wanted to milk the situation so badly that they couldn't think straight.
Oct 7, 2015 Great post. I totally agree. I've heard Dre asked this question before and he just gave some half assed answer like "Uh, I just thought he was trying to be funny." Total negligence as a mentor and friend if you ask me. He probably knew Em needed help but wanted to cash in on him one last time while he still could.
Oct 7, 2015 When you think about it, you can kinda excuse 50 and the other artists. I can see pretty much all of them were intimidated by Eminem in terms of rapping and popularity. But the thing with Dre is very iffy. Dre,the perfectionist and the executive producer of the last album didn't say anything to him. Like could Eminem been so big that even Dre turned into an yesman? The whole Encore situation is very interesting. Em needs to rap about it tbh
Oct 7, 2015 Exactly. The whole Encore/Curtain Call time period would be an interesting topic for him to address on his next album, especially since it's exactly ten years later now.
Oct 8, 2015 I guess songs like Mockingbird were the kind of father Em wanted to be but, at the time of his addiction, he wasn't able to be. It's a shame that Em didn't wait until he was sober to remarry her.
Oct 8, 2015 Yeah, we really shouldn't put blame on 50 at all, just for what he did for Em on that 106 & park show and how he backed him up and jumped to answer questions Em was seeming to have troubles answering to, 50 showed real solidarity right there. Oh, and by the way, Encore was a commercial success, almost on the same level as TES, so it makes no sense to say they should've scrapped it off. As you know a lot of songs that were supposed to be on Encore were leaked and he got real mad for it so he started recording funny-goofy-f----you-for--doing-that-songs
Oct 8, 2015 I hate when people say this. I doubt he was like "You know what? I'm going to become a drug addict." No, it happened by accident. He gradually got addicted to it and it got to a point where he felt like garbage unless he had it. "Dope sickness".
Oct 8, 2015 agreed, its got some s-----y songs but its still has amazing and now classic songs unlike anything that came after encore. Songs like Mockingbird, puke, mosh, toy soilders, never enough, we as americans, one shot 2 shot. I'd much rather have an eminem album like encore than alot of the s--- hes put on albums afterward.
Oct 9, 2015 50 Cent encouraged Marshall to the drugs and rock and roll lifestyle as much as anyone else. Im DEFINITELY not blaming 50 but you could tell Em saw 50 as a brother and 50 saw Em as a cash cow/comrade in beefs, and like the calculating shark he is he took advantage So did a lot of people at that time im sure. Im sure its hard to find many who will be real w u at that level of fame. Kim prolly was real altho she was kinda f----- up too over the years
Oct 9, 2015 If you remember in his Peep Show verse he actually raps about popping viagra before sex. And coincidentally that song came out in... 07.
Oct 9, 2015 Anybody remember when Stat Quo actually said a joke something about Em's drug abuse in a label meeting in 2007 and Em completely cut him off and eventually dropped him from the label because of it? Does anybody know exactly what he said? As far as I know Stat, of all people, was the only artist or friend to actually say something to him about it.
