quite plainly, this is one of the worst things i've ever heard from a high profile artist. this was so bad that I really struggled to even make it all the way through, and it has done what none of his other albums have ever done. it has absolutely killed any remaining interest in ever hearing it again, or really just eminem beyond 2004 for that matter. at least you could say encore and relapse are interesting disasters, but this is just dull and awful. what happened to this guy has to be nearly unprecedented in music before, right? he exhibits absolutely none of the brilliance he used to. his wit and bite is exchanged for cringe 13 year old toilet humor. that dab armpit line is the most embarrassing thing he's ever said. he can't sound natural on a record anymore. go listen to f---ing i'm back or criminal or something, and then listen to him audibly f---ing strain to sound like he knows how to rap. christ, even on relapse he still sort of resembled the old skill he had. same song and dance sounds effortless compared to anything here.
what happened to eminem is just plain sad.Chacrateazey, afghaniStan, KingZ and 4 others like this. -

When I first listened to this album last night, I was so f---ing furious. It was one of the worst first impressions I’ve ever had the displeasure of hearing. But, like @Koolo did, I relistened front and back like 11-12 times and my opinion has changed. There are tracks like heat, offended, remind me and need whme ich are irredeemable. They may be the worst songs he has ever made in his entire career. But the rest are good to amazing. If only he made this a 13 track LP. I don’t understand why this album needed to be this long. But, this album will definitely do nothing but divide his fan base for the next few yearsafghaniStan, JUS Kool Man, Dudley and 4 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Album is trash (give or take 2 or 3 songs). This is his 2nd dud in a row. Admit it. If he sticks with these producers, features, and “friends”, he’s done.
I won’t be interested in another Em release unless I see Dre or Bass bros names on the production credits and no Skylar Grey in sight. -

I dont care how old they are, they're amazing. I don't see that opinion changing. I've been playing these two songs so much, Revival is better than MMLP2 because of these two songsKoke, Groovy Tony, M Solo and 3 others like this. -

LOL I just listened to Offended the whole way through. LMFAOOOOOO that chorus. Oh wow. Lollll what the f--- was he thinking?! What I can appreciate for sure is that em tried to put something here for everyone
People who like his comedy goofy Encore s--- will probably like songs like Offended. Recovery lovers will love Tragic Endings. People who love his personal stuff on TES will love Castle and Arose. Newer fans who enjoy trap will probably like believe and chloraseptic. We even have a relapse-type song on here with Framed
It's interesting to say the least. But it does like of result in the album feeling very messy. That might be a reason I wasn't liking it as much as I wanted toTheBlackSheep, Translucent, Michael Myers and 3 others like this. -

I agree. Castle/Arose is genius and emotional. The album is simply too long. He wanted to please everyone so there is at least a couple songs for everyone. It is a bit annoying that this took him four years though.
I expected a lot of Remind me, as it had an intro and all. That track is my biggest disappointment. -

I liked Maybe 4-5 songs when this leaked, but holy s--- how it has grown on me.
I still hate Offensive and Remind Me, but the rest is pretty good. I never imagined I would actually change my opinion.

I was literally starting to feel the same way and thought I was crazy.... I was literally shi--ing on this album yesterday and now the mess I thought it was all makes sense to me now for some reason, it’s hard to explain but @Koolo pretty much got what I was feeling
This will go down as Eminem’s Yeezus and will be regarded as better than MMLP2, Recovery, Relapse, and Encore no doubt.
I wonder if critics are gonna realize this albums beauty.... it really does take a few listensCavalierTD, BrenoB, Oldboy and 2 others like this. -

Here are my thoughts. Sorry if it's all over the place.
I wasn't crazy about either “Walk on Water” or “Untouchable” when they were released, but I didn't hate either. Deep down I had a feeling this had the possibility of being his worst album. Even though everything he’s released in the last 5 years has had that stop/go flow, I was hopeful there would be a few gems on this album like “Brainless” on MMLP2.
I also think the whole release of this album left a bad taste in my mouth, and the fact that he looks like s--- and looks so tired prepared me that this could be a VERY bad.
I absolutely hated the album on first listen. I had to take a break halfway through which I have never done with an Eminem album. I didn’t replay one song (I was at work when I listened, so admittedly I didn’t give it my full attention), but it felt like every song was skippable. When I first heard “Believe” I knew it was probably going to be one of the better tracks, but it didn’t do much for me. Even “Castle” wasn’t as impressive to me as everyone was saying. Only “Arose” struck me as a GREAT song.
After work about 6 hours later I gave the album a second listen hoping to like it more. I didn’t. A few tracks were a little better, but I hated the middle of the album even more than the first time. I felt embarrassed for Eminem. From “Remind Me” through “Need Me” I honestly thought I might never listen to these tracks again.
It was weird. I had never felt this way about an Eminem album on first listen. I knew MMLP2 wasn’t anything amazing on first listen, but I still liked it. It wasn’t until a month or so later that I realized MMLP2 was so lackluster.
A HUGE issue with this album (one that I still have) is the mixing. Now I was an audio engineer for years, so bad mixing might piss me off more than others. The “River” mix sounds disjointed, the “Like Home” hook is mixed like s---….honestly, it doesn’t even sound like Alicia Keys, and it sounds like what is being used as the melody is mixed as if it’s a harmony. It’s crazy to me that it seems like Eminem was in the studio with these featured artists because of how cut and pasted they sound apart from the Kehlani hook.
I honestly went to sleep last night disappointed. Now I’m 27 years old, so it’s kind of embarrassing to say that an album ruined my day. But it did.
This morning I woke up, saw this thread and decided to give it another listen while I was at the gym. I think in the back of my mind I did realize the one good thing about this album is that each song had a purpose/story, so when I listened this morning I tried to focus more on the lyrics and stories that were being told, and I enjoyed it MUCH more.
Don’t get me wrong. The album still isn’t anything great to me yet, but I’m hopeful with more listens I’ll get over the shock of the bad mixing, cookie cutter hooks and a few s--- tracks. I don’t like Phresher at all (2 Chainz would had sounded much better), “Remind Me” is still garbage, the hook on “Like Home” still pisses me off, “Tragic Endings” sounds like a Recovery throwaway, WHY did he put that hook on “Offended” that absolutely ruins a song with great flow, “Need Me” shouldn’t be anywhere near this album with two Pink verses, and even though I like “In Your Head” it sounds incomplete to me. Besides that everything sounds better and I’m hopeful I’ll like it more as time goes on.
