i didnt mean it had to be studied, i meant Eminem has never gave us anything close to this sonically, it was a shock, it threw me off that i felt disgusted, when i let it settle in, i was surprised of how much i loved the new sounds, its something he never did for 15 years...this is why i wanted Rubin to work wih Em, to do to him what he did to Kanye, but we got rhyme or reason and other s---
now he did it, he gave us a new Em, and yes i love itlil uzi vert stan, odd, GustavoJaxReloaded and 1 other person like this. -

Great review Koolo. I felt like you at first, i found this album to be jarring sonically,
However Marshalls performance, minus some bits (such as the terrible opening flow of Believe) has been f---ing stellar in my eyes. He made great music even out of some garbage simply by his performance.
h--- on the pink track, which sucks, his singing was f---ing better than pinks!
The rick rubin tracks took the longest to digest with me, but Heat had to be the best hes been, musically, since 2004. I dont like classic rock, but rubin was magic on this, and Em was in complete sync. He had complete control of a song for the first time in whats felt like 8 years. I bumped that s--- in the whip this morning and just heard every minor detail and was stunned.
Maybe it took some time to get chemistry but theyve finally got it.
Im not sure how this album will age. The opening to like home for example made me want to f---ing vomit, but by the end of the song i was so g.d. into it.
In a way many of the songs on this album start off jarring and rough, but by the end i get so into them. Marshall showed the f--- out on this s---, he blew his flow and entendres and messages on recovery and mmlp2 out of the water. This is far more fun to listen to than either of his previous 2 albums.
Cringe lines from Em were at a minimum, while his wit was at heights i havent seen since 2009. Hes by far at his best in years, and his weaknesses to me are simply production choice. He needs more control over the production and the stop and go flow, but this is the biggest leap in the right direction ive ever seen him take.

Well said, Koolo.
I felt the same. First listen, I was like what is this s---? I was disappointed as f---.
Then I relistened, and realized it actually has some really good songs. It's thematic, a little bit of something for everyone and overall it's good. 7/10
Arose, Framed, Believe, Walk on Water, Castle are the highlights among a few other moments. A lot of people are definitely just jumping on the hate bandwagon and not giving it a full fair listen. It's good, has some weak moments, maybe a bit too poppy and corny at times but still more ballsy and honest than MMLP2 and overall I liked it.shady389, afghaniStan, DontKnow and 1 other person like this. -

Copying my comment from the main thread:
My main criticism of this album, or any new Em's music, is the inconsistency of his flow in a particular song. I don't mind stutter flow (or whatever you call it), but he really should keep his delivery consistent from the beginning to the end, and focus more on production. Yes it may sound boring but simple but solid flow with decent beat and ear-grabbing hook, Eminem could easily top the charts with that formula. I liked this album overall, prob give it a 7, it has some of Eminem's best work for a long time, but those 4 -5 meh songs really drag the album down as a whole.
